Recon Cruiser "Leontopolis" contacted via secure channel for reassignment from Sigma front.
Resupply and necessary overstock completed at Cairo Station under full security lockdown.
"Leontopolis" transmits final operational signal 22-02-826A.S. @ 18:00 Hours.
Personal Log Entry: Commander Christopher Maihos, Order Reconnaissance Cruiser "Leontopolis"
Following the capture and interrogation of a Nomad sympathizer and member of the Oracles movement known only as 'Caliban', the Wedjat discovered the rumored origin of the nomad sub-group known as the 'vagrants'. According to intel, the vagrants - which have only recently become a major force against the Order's operations - were, at least in part, the denizens of the Dyson Sphere which were pulled into the Hypergate when Casper Orillion's agents reactivated it, signaling the end of the first Nomad War.
It is now believed that those nomads pulled into the hypergate were catapulted into an unknown sector of dark space outside of the galactic edge, and given the reported numbers of Nomads which were visibly pulled into the gate, opposed to the number of verified vagrants we've seen in Sirius, the Wedjat are convinced that a much larger Nomad force still resides beyond the borders of the sector.
The Leontopolis has received orders from Overwatch to act upon Wedjat intel and investigate this situation. We have resupplied at Cairo station, and we've cut down to a skeleton crew and overstocked supplies to maximize operational longevity. At roughly 18:00 Hours today, the twenty-second of February, 826 A.S., the Leontopolis will officially reach the edge of known space, passing through the outer spiral arm of the galaxy and into dark space.
The Leontopolis will proceed at FTL drift and shut down all nonessential systems to conserve power, while maintaining passive sensor monitoring around-the-clock as we move onward into the empty void between galaxies. This will be a trying mission: there will be no contact with any other vessels, no news feeds to pass the time, no option for shoreleave, and an as-of-yet undefined duration. We will continue until we find evidence, or until we run out of supplies and die. Only the most loyal and dedicated members of the Order have been posted for this assignment, though I fear even they may be pushed beyond their limits with such a hopeless task set before them.
Radio silence will be initiated following this transmission. Christopher Maihos, signing out.
