Bringing back an iconic ship

Well ....... this could be a good idea or it could be a bad one.......

The ship that i would like to be able to bring back to the game is probably a one that should not have been taken out in the first place....

The BARGE.......

Personally i have not had the pleasure to fly this so called beast but i am lead to believe that the hold capacity of this ship is immense..

Seeing as i am a co owner of a Player Owned Base (POB)

This particular beast of a ship would be ideal to any POB owners .....

So it would greatly reduce the amount of trips it would take to collect essential commodities and give the owners of these POB's the opportunity to minimise the amount of operatives needed to collect these commodities and improve manufacturing times for their customers in the long run...

so i hope that some POB owners will gladly give some input to this discussion to see if it would be a help to you all to bring back this particular ship so we can all benefit from it and improve our needs greatly for manufacturing purposes and improve our customer build times and also be able to build more units in less time....

Maybe the ship could be introduced again and only be given out to POB owners at a special request...

Any opinions on this would be welcome....

hi zoner, you know , that's probably why it was removed, with that, I'll probably still have my base!

40000 cargo is like you say very useful for a base, but it's like the automatic cash registers of the *spaceshop* it eliminates the suppliers/traders

Barges are SRP only right now. and is only obtainable as one per faction.

Barges were originally acting as POBs. Before POBs were possible we had these - miners would fill them up, and traders would come empty them.

I also think doing 6 runs in a train would be quicker than doing one run in a barge!

This. OP mentioned he did not fly barge so let me give you a hint as a person who did. Docking on some NPC stations was a nightmare. You could not use trade lanes. Turning took ages. And after you finally finished it and started charging cruise engines (what again took ages) some NPC flew to close and bumped into you, turning you into the wrong direction so you could start again. Basically, it was an awesome feeling to fly the beast, but from a practical view, it was a nightmare (basically it was mainly meant to be a temporary storage place for miners in space serving in a way POBs do now, not to be a transport ship). Not to mention that pirates were asking tens of million from you due to a huge amount of cargo you had and you were totally unable to defend yourself against anything including low-level NPCs.
