Background:
Saki Fujimoto was born on Planet New Tokyo, in the heart of Kusari’s golden city: a place of wealth, power, and entrenched tradition. Her father, a small-time criminal, gambled away their future, sinking deeper into debt with the Hogosha men who claimed to protect Kusari’s commoners but were little more than thugs. When Saki turned eighteen, her father sold her to the gangs that controlled New Tokio’s high-end nightclubs, where women like her were nothing more than playthings for the rich and powerful.
Her life became a blur of flashing lights, music, and exploitation, until she met Akiko, a fellow dancer with a fire for revolution. Akiko’s ideas of resistance opened Saki’s eyes to the truth: Kusari’s system thrived on the exploitation of women. But when Akiko was murdered by a deranged Hogosha customer, Saki’s resolve solidified. Among Akiko’s belongings, she found Golden Chrysanthemums in Bloom, a book by dissident Yuyu Matsuda that exposed the rot at the heart of Kusari’s government. It gave her a new purpose.
Determined to escape, Saki stole credits and Cardamine from her pimp, and with help from Blood Dragon sympathizers, she fled to Kinkaku-ji Station. There, she bought a second-hand fighter and vowed to fight back. Saki’s goal was clear: to join the Golden Chrysanthemums, the resistance movement that stands for freedom, equality, and vengeance against Kusari’s oppressive elite.
No longer a pawn, Saki is now a fighter in the void, flying under the callsign "Kakegami no Urami" and determined to shatter the chains that once bound her: to bring down the corrupt system that made her a slave.
