Project Kyori Yugami
With the lower research wing of Kinkaku-ji completed, we can now move on to our newest project.
Project Kyori Yugami will attempt to weaponise physics and create a breach in space that allows the Sisterhood to create a temporary jumphole and thus allow for instant fleet displacement. This will hold great strategic value. If the project succeeds, it would allow us to deploy a strikeforce anywhere and destroy a target before the enemy has time to react.
Project Requirements.
- A vessel with enough power output to create a hyperspace breach
- A stable prototype Yugami drive capable of creating space distortions
Our research into the practical application of jump hole formation had given us several hurdles to overcome.
Using the data gathered from the jump hole collapse in the morning of July 31st 826 A.S, shortly after the construction of Kinkaku-ji, we have tried to simulate the formation of an artificial jump hole in a controlled environment.
First of all, we needed to generate and contain the immense energy necessary to potentially create an anomaly. The temperatures in the test fase far exceeded the threshold of what the alloy could manage. The result was the device melting into a worthless piece of scrap. We counteracted this by obtaining Critical temperature alloy from a Junker base in Munich.
Secondly was the construction of the Core itself using Magnetic Superconductors to control the energy flow. Now that it could withstand the heat, we faced the challenge of other hazards. As soon as something that resembled and anomaly started forming, a gravity spike partially imploded the core and a fraction of a second afterwards, an explosion breached the device hull. 6 Golden Chrysanthemum scientists lost their lives, including physics expert Dr. Hirosato.
We managed to obtain Gravity Field Stabilizers and as a second precaution, we continued experimention outside of the Kinkaku-ji. It took us 4 more core designs to create a stable prototype. The first off-base test imploded the device, like it had on the station. We adjusted the perimeters on the second and it simply vanished. The tracker that was mounted on the device didn't give off a reading. The Third was reinforced with more stabilisers and integrated with argentium silver. This third one was later retrieved intact from Yurasu Field in Tottori. It successfully jumped.
We have readied the first prototype that can be mounted on a ship. It will require alot more energy to operate than the test probes we sent out so far.
The aquisition of a ship capable of powering a jumpdrive has been successful. One "Bustard" Carrier has been built and purchased from Interspace Commerce. Standard amenities, standard power core, unregistered to protect all parties. Though fully operational, it is yet to be loaded with equipment. It has been named Ise Jingu after the shrine to Amaterasu that existed on Earth.
Our next step is transfering the jumpdrive from the cruiser Mugenmirai, a temporary home during the siege of Kinkaku-ji, reinforcing the armor with hulls from nearby Tokugawa, and procuring guns. Once the ship is fully outfitted, we will conduct our first field test. We may also want to buy spare engines, power cores, and guns from either the Dragons or Outcasts to work as backups.
