Uh yeah basically freelancer mod manager is giving me insane amounts of hassle. Every time I try to activate/deactivate discovery (4.84 or 4.85) the programme goes into 'not responding'. After a while, it will either say its worked, or say it hasn't worked. Either way, the manager records it as having gone from activated to deactivated, or vice versa. Except for sometimes when it says the mod wont activate.
Then, when I launch freelancer, sometimes it's playing discovery, sometimes it's not. If I launch the game through freelancer account manager, it automatically reverts back to a vanilla install. If I restart my computer, it reverts back to a vanilla install. If I close freelancer and run it again, quite a lot of the time it reverts back to a vanilla install.
I've tried uninstalling everything in various ways, but I've had no joy yet. It's pretty frustrating.
So basically my help request is:
Is there any way i can fix this so it stops switching back to vanilla all the god damned time.
Or, is there any way I can just install the mod without the mod manager because I hate it and it hates me.
You need FLMM. Don't use "deactivate" with Discovery, use "restore backups". For transition to 4.85 complete reinstall of FL is recommended. Considering your trouble, you could think about reinstalling FLMM as well. Be sure to get the right version, 1.31.
Thanks. Eventually got it sorted by completely uninstalling everything to do with freelancer, sweeping around and deleting anything that didn't disappear, reinstalling everything, then setting it all up with admin rights. and rebooting my computer about five times. Thanks to Dean Kew also for the assist.
