Long-long time ago there was a civil war in a distant galaxy...Wait a minute? What the heck about distant galaxy? This is wrong text, be patient, I'll back soon.
Omicrons have never been a peaceful place to people searching for safety. When you, newbie traveller, once expanced Omicrons, be ready that you will find a factination attraction, after that you'll be completely loaded by tons of tranquilizers...or cardamine even. The omnipotent space always welcomes with portion of abuses, a pint of robbery, bag of eternal combats where no one knows, who is fighting with whom. And for dessert nobody will forget to shot couple of useless wings from rusty bucket so-called "civilian spacecraft" you bought from Junker somewhere on Rochester.
To be honest, I was the same when arrived to Freeport-11 for the very first time. This is place where you can see splashes, flashlights and fire outside every single day, except for dinner, when, for example, Core and Corsairs participants are ceasing fire each other and dock on Freeport, having a dinner on a common table (and trying to sprinkle poison), then resuming fire again. There is normal, never ask, just trust me.
Years on the making, and experience becomes a part of yours along with soul, heart and blood and soon you must to choose a side what you're living and fighting for. My decision was much easier than I could imagine.
The Order.
Ask me simply why and I give you a simple answer. Childhood has been interrupted too soon by bad news: Mom and dad along with transporter and his crew have been destroyed in nomad attack not far from Freeport-9 in Omicron Theta system. There are rumors, several Rheinland vehicles participated during terror. When I had 22, I've contacted anonymous person by comrade's advice and they accepted me as recruit. This is my chance to take advantage in Omicrons and expel the Nomads from our home. There were my minds 4 years ago.
Nowadays, I am commander of one of the squadrons and got rights to receive a cruiser under command. This vessel called "Mafdet" almost ready to leave Carthage and start his encourage across Border and Edge Worlds to become a sharp eye in Sirius. I am sure, I've seen Mafdet once when we tried to defend Freeport-11, but vessel has been badly damaged and was unable to join us for a while and this one is going to be mine.
But there is an issue requesting for immediate reaction. Let's find out, why indefinite civilian vehicles attack everyone.
Mafdet's test drive has been successful. Our vessel headed regular patrol route in Omicron Mu system and everything been much better than I expected. To be truly honest, I was slighty nervous, when Mafdet undocked from Carthage.
What did I scare? I can't say to myself an exact: might be engines could not have worked or issues with navigation system or we could just forget important containers with food or medical supplies. Scared for nothing...Oh man, how shameful.
Anyway, ship has launched and slowly closed to anomaly which could bring us to Omicron Mu. Jumping through hyperspace...Yeah, we made it. Large green-gray cloud is everywhere, but long range scanners worked well. I gave an order to follow next waypoint headed on the north top of Wall of Seth and for entire hour vessel moved on cruise speed and then we moved closely to Nebet - a large gas giant with offencive thunderstorms and megacyclones.
That was really glorious. Miles, who is a Mafdet's new executive commander, even launched a camera drone to make footage.
OCV Mafdet inside Nebet's planetary ring with The Order homeland on background
Alright, I have a task is much important than to be quite nostalgic. I had meeting with strange pilot on civilian spacecraft, while I flew back from Dabadoru on my personal "Bastet", and his speech was literally weird. I couldn't understand what he meant, but when Neural Net loudly warned me "WARNING! INCOMING MISSILE", I realized he tries to engage me and best option is shaking him from my back. Under fire I warned Freeport 11's dispatchers about hostilities, but before reinforcement arrive to assist, I managed to blow up a fighter by series of mines. Everything was usual, except one small detail - ship, that attacked me, hadn't pilot's body inside cockpit. Without paying enough attention to this, I had launched cruise engines and returned to the original route.
Closing to Palau cloud, scanners recorded strange movements directly between the spot near jumphole to Omicron Minor and planet Nauru has been held by The Core. Unfortunately, I falied in following contacts, because they hid almost instantly and everything I could find out is transport, affiliated to Deep Space Engineering. What the hell are they doing so far from Liberty and their borders?
"Agent Drake, this is Storgen. I need you and Mafdet in Delta, because we have unwelcomed company and I ask you to watch and gather information about everything you can find out"
Ignorance of potential danger was a quiet foolish idea. Engaging controversy instead of simple offence almost led us to lose. Alright, let me start from the begin.
Mafdet under Drake's command received my message I sent them and not the next day cruiser arrived to Dabadoru station to restock and refuel. For next two days they observed an activity around huge Nomad installation that producing Asurite Gas - weird substance or gas whatever. Drake sent me report about increased activity of Core and DSE transports near Iridium field and prepared his squadron to lurk around. Finally, one of them had managed to catch Liberty transport that coursed directly to indefinite installation (I have feeling I've seen this one on recent reports from another agent) and tried to talk. He didn't get anything really useful, but transports captain actively denied any blames about co-working on Core. Mafdet already saw them together, so denying this fact is pointless.
However, speaking with DSE represantive has been corrupted by Corsair arrival along with Freelancer as well. And there was my mistake: I didn't warn Mafdet about strange civilians they could open fire when you do not expect. Mafdet's fighter noticed engaging on Corsair's sight and tried to pull unknown guy away from Corsair and civilians. Everything could end much worse if battlecruiser Amun-Re didn't decloak near Palau cload.
After this strange encounter, Drake contacted me and told everything. Fighter's pilot was too scared and Miles gave him a little rest. This time i decided do not ignore everything weird I could find, Omicrons are still dangerous.
Meanwhile, Cairo station reporting about increased Nomad activity in Damascus cloud inside Omicron Sigma system and me with Mafdet and several other agents decided to relocate us to Cairo and take care about income.
Mafdet and Sesmu squadrons on interception
Cairo's dispatchers were right. Huge amount of Nomad fighters, several gunship squads were heading to Cairo, but we sent them out of our territory. This wasn't something unusual and I flew to Akabat for personal purposes. There was my second mistake - I mustn't leave Mafdet alone. Two hours later detectors and cameras detected a large energy surge, not far from system star and Order cruiser that heading from there. There was Mafdet. While we are moved to Cairo, Miles told about an AI cruiser. He was completely different than before and I have not enough words, how to explain recordings I've listened on Cairo. I just rewrite letter to letter his...words.
I had contacted an agent who is much closer than me to Overwatch and I can directly speak to him. He should be interested in materials we've found.
"That won't be necessary. Soon every living being will perish. Not today, not tommorow. But soon. One day - The Warmind will reign"
"No more Nomads. No more Humans. No more wars."
"I am done with this Harvester- and the AI. I can now serve as I had to. AID IN HUMANITY'S EXTINCTION"
If you once ask me, where I would get a rest, you never hear a word "Omicrons". As soon as I set off Carthage, someone sent signal SOS not far from Pheonicia. There was a recruit which joined the Order couple weeks ago and he was ambushed by small nomad squadron, but there weren't regular "fighters", but something bitter, like very little gunboat. Fortunately, they were too slow and not so bullet-proof to win.
As payment for help, that guy asked me to be an escort for my incoming trip to Sigmas. Without thinking twice, I agreed to take him under my wing. Who know what will happen before we reach Port Said, and, as bonus, trip won't be so boring.
Well, I was wrong. Entire route to Omicron Sigma was too long and too boring and I finally fell asleep behind pilot's cockpit. Fortunately, modern vessel usually were equipped by small bays, where pilot could sleep for some time.
Several hours later we finally reached Cairo station and I met Miles who wrote letters to...someone. I gently tried to ask him and he embarassmently said, this is letter to his sympathized girl.
"Uh, lovebirds." This is only one word I could say at this moment. I made sure everything is silent outside, mailbox is empty (unfortunately, Tarancon has no one who can be quite qualify to reply me), then had a quick lunch, refueled and restrocked my "Bastet" and with newly made escortman we launched our ships from the station. Next waypoint - Sigma-21 system where I need to find an agent Solandros.
OCV Mafdet and OCV Sesmu on guard
I have no need to completely rewrite here, what I've seen and heard, furthermore, there was something unnotable and I have no rights to discuss about it. Solandros was already knew everything. What did I expect yet from one, who was most close to Overwatch, more than other officers in the Order? But he was still interested in recordings from Cairo and data analysis from Mafdet that was able to remove strange AI cruiser. Solandros had agreed with fact, so-called Warmind need a hard attention and recommended not to save any remains, because their programm has ability to infest our systems, and said he will inform Overwatch personally.
Approximately, an hour later, we had moved back from Said and everything was fine except one: we were chased by ship class "Titan" which usually belongs to Corsairs. With large reluctancy I had to shake him from our tale with lethal force inside Anila Nebula in Sigma-59. Intertupting our tasks will always end with same final, especially for piracy.
Couple days later I received a letter from Overwatch to meet a new ensign in First fleet and give him beginner's instruction. To be honest, I never instructed recruits before and was a bit nervous before meeting. We've met at Taba's orbit and my ward was a Corsair woman, 30-35 years on first sight, who strongly tried to recommend herself as loyal and warm, absolutely different from Corsairs I've met last years. Her name - Eliza Fischer. As it turned during our first patrol, he had contacts with Order for a very long time, even before tragic fall of Toledo and already was well-trained fighter's pilot. Should read detailed dossier about Sanchez later, at least, I should know more about persons I meet. She even sent me a grateful mail. Oh, really?
Meeting with Ensign
Wait, I was about to forget we need to find Mafdet that suddenly flew away from Cairo and what was that exploration vessel "Wilson"? I must say, I've heard this name before, but where?
Last two week were pretty productive and efficient. I've met a new group of so-called "Voltaic Junkers" during very specific circumstanses. If I ask you, how linked between themselves the Core, Corsairs, nomad remains and junkers, you cannot reply me, I bet a million credits. But actually asnwer is Core tried to treat Junkers...with nomadic remains and sort of munitions inside their cargo tanks. Naturally, our cruiser asked them about remains, but we got nothing except Corsair screams "They steal remains!"
Yes, I know, nobody should maintain or keep remains for their own sakes. But with Core battleship on their way we couldn't realize anything and decided to challenge him. But I didn't expect Corsairs will help the Core, their enemies by reasons (enough to remember Yaren Base brutally sieged and captured). I do not absolve Corsair's mirror acts against civilians, but I really can't understand their sudden union. Well, this is Omicron Delta and anything can happen. Literally anything.
Anyway, battle was strongly challenging, but with small help from Junkers, we managed to disable Core's warship and Corsairs ran away from us. Junkers told me, they have met unknown aggresive creatures inside Palau Cloud and destroyed them. I shortly explained them, why those remaines must be transferred to our hands and they have aggred with me.
Several days later me and Fischer had a meeting with a current "leader" of Voltaic junkers. They partially restored badly damaged Freeport Jackson, rebuilt a biodome, most important modules and named as Tarancon base. Metting has been started from combating pirate that tried to harass us and lurked around Omicron Mu jumphole. Junker called Kyle Vaughn welcomed us onto Tarancon's board told us a little story about station restorations. In return, I showed him disabled nomad installations similar to human trade lanes and asked him to warn his people never come to alien jump gates behind the nebula. I hope, we will never have issues with that. Also, I promised him to do anything possible to protect people from the Nomads and aggressive Core pilots with their manners and, rarely, tends to piracy.
- if Nomads attack us - we have no one to call for help.
- I am surely understand. We won't allow anybody to harm you and your family. I don't know Overwatch plans, but I promise.
- If you promise me something, I suggest you keep your word.
Tarancon Base. Closest point to nomad Jump Gates
A week later, there was a regular patrol from Omicron Minor to Freeport 11. In attempt to send test signal, I didn't get a respond and directed my fighter to Freeport. My concerns has been confirmed: a group of indefinite fighters were attacking Freeport. After quick scan and calling reinforcements, I've decided to help Velvet people those failing fight against attackers, but my decision was too risky for myself. Agent of cell Legacy of Orillion arrived few minutes later and both already tried to move fighters forom the Freeport as far as possible. Battle was over in 15-20 minutes. Hostile squad have blew up Johanna's fighter and I was alone with rescue pod in cargo bay. Task has been complete, but I couldn't proceed fighting anymore and managed to cloaked us. Hardcastle lost her ship, but still alive. My bastet was like a sieve and somehow could reach Dabadoru station. Next time I should be more careful
Ask any Order agent about salvation experience with junkers, and they won't reply. Because nobody can remember similar kinds of work, and no one Junker will tell about sneaking through Alaska - a system under complete liberty law forces control. Before the First Nomad War Alaska was considered as myth - only limited LSF officer's number had access inside Zone-21 and Alaska itself. But 27 years later Alaska already has access from multiple spots, remotely located from LSF main stations and shipyards.
A week ago the Order asked Voltaic junkers for aid when patrol has found an abandoned large station, signed as Hackert Station. Not only station attracted Order agent's attention, but a large transport inside scrap blockage and they aren't been able to extract a vessel or, at least, safely breach station's hull.
Kyle Vaughn - a person responsible for wreckage salvation mission in Omicron Minor, was sure we suggest him a kind of "suicidal" mission, he was very doubtful in our success, but also understood we never would invite him without a valid reason.
And now, here it comes.
The Order group arrived to the Tarancon Base
Rat: "Engines...working! Some nibbling here...leakage there...ergh. One question. Is my transponder working right?" Markus Wayne: "Greetings, Junkers, Order transport online. Can you hear us?" Rat: "Perfect! Yeah I can hear ya. CSV's welder is kind of broken so it will always spin - minus while cruising. But eh. That only means it'll always be ready!" Markus: "Alright, Jonathan, confirm status. All clear around to begin a trip?"
Jonathan.Williams: "Long-range scanners detect nothing unusual. We are ready to go."
Markus: "Listen up. We are going to the Alaska system, well-known as completely controlled by Liberty law forces. We need to finish our task as quickly as possible"
After short talking, we've started to move out. Alaska jump hole is located far away from the regular Order patrol routes and looked like a small unstable anomaly - decently stable for snubcraft and small transporters like CSV or our Voyager, but larger ships crew will hear nothing but "Dock denied" from Neural Net that marked jumphole as unable to use.
Fortunately, we didn't meet any Nomad or Core ship on our way to jumphole and jumped through with success. Lucky was on our side - no hostile patrols on the other side.
Rat: "Someone should cover a 17km distance away from the Derelict! Probably on the direct route from the Alaska Jump Gate to it." Jonathan: "Damn rocks. They're too many."
We flew through the endless dense grey-green cloud with sharp ice crystals for a really long time and Junker noticed something - it was looked like regular Ageira Jump Gates, but they were much more massive than usual.
Rat: "Woah! What is that?!" Jonathan: "That's huge. Similar to one in Poole. I thought they've stopped this project. Looks like they're not." Markus: "It seems, Ageira is trying to build another kind of jumpgates" Rat: "But where to? Wait. Isn't it aimed at Omicron Minor's direction?" Jonathan: "Space is not so flat. It can be directed anywhere." Markus: "I don't know. Let's hope, they aren't in an attempt to invade Omicrons...for their sakes"
Super Gate in Alaska
In an hour after "little" surprise, we finally reached our waypoint - Hackert Station magnificently watched us and our moves. I can't remember how long it took, but we managed to tractor about a dozen large containers that are hard to analyze. Every collected data along with entry logs I will save right here. Not only canned turrets have been inside transport's cargo, but a container with parts I never have seen before.
Markus: "Look at this huge station" Rat: "Worse than I thought. Impact related damage. Probably mortars. Kinetic shells?" Markus: "Try to breach that scrap, we're interested in that transporter inside" Rat: "Not only one. There are some weird signatures. The Scrap's too thick though."
Attempt to breach station's husk
Returning to Omicron Mu was without surprises and LSF didn't spot our presence in Alaska. And this was really weird to realize, how it was even possible. Anyway, I informed Mafdet about our success and got an order to go to the Alexandria Research station, where scientists will research our find.
Order transporter arrived to Alexandria with valuable cargo
Early scans reveal no consistent information about these objects and I can't really say, what exactly we found, but energy signatures are strong even under hermetic containers. The total amount of salvaged containers with them - 10 units and would be better to transport them to the Order Science Division or Genesis Research Group for details.
I feel seriously confused. What was that device expeditionary ship used a moment ago? Why we flew to the Omicron Theta and I was provided a heavy escort to them?
Okay, let's start from the beginning. When I came back to Akabat, somebody sent me a letter to help them in work. The sender a very curious young woman and, man, why I keep meeting girls in the Order? I mean, I don't really mind, but am I too lucky or too unlucky?
Drake was unable after hard work in the Omicron Kappa and I sent him to get a rest for a few days and took a Mafdet under my command while battleship is getting re-armed.
The vessel was supplied by food, fuel, armaments, and oxygen for the next 2 weeks and I ordered the crew to move cruiser to the Alexandria, where we met a deep space explorer called "Prometheus" with a large device inside the cargo bay.
Ship's commander introduced himself as A-li-sa Tere-shov-va...No, Ter-shkova. Wait, Tereshkova, right! Oh man, I can't even pronounce this name. Anyway, she introduced herself and I found out, she is a newcomer from the Coalition. This is impressive, I didn't meet anyone in Order from ancient slav nation for a really long time. She knows our language, but sometimes there was a kind of slav words between ordinary trans-Sirius speech. Anyway, everything was ready and we started our trip. Destination - Omicron Theta, location...unpopulated area far from the Freeport 9. During the long flight, I could ask more about Coalition, their conception, culture, motivations, outlook on life, everything. Nowadays, Coalition does not look like as an old strong enemy we fought more than 800 years ago, but most of the Houses are still in a war, especially Bretonia since their expansion campaign into Omega-49 and Gran Canaria.
When we arrived to the Omicron Theta, I asked what we are looking for here. She replied they want to test a device that generates an artificial jumphole from point A to "approximate " point B. Well, that must be interesting. "How are you going to deploy this...jumphole? And where the hell did you find blueprints to construct such a curious thing?" "Where it was - it is no longer there, isn't it right?"She said that in a childish, innocent smile. "Hey, don’t look at me like that ... Just as I left Cambridge, a wonderful idea occurred to me - to requisition what I put my work into. Right, isn't it? As for how I place the Jump Hole... I have to start from the basis. After all, do you know the principle thanks to which there are generally gaps in space and time called Hyper-holes, or jump-holes? Hyperspace as such is an anomaly that goes over all possible laws of physics. However, we can talk about this for hours." She sighed and massaged her head."I will explain it as simple as possible. There are conditional places where the laws of physics are not very reliable. They still maintain these areas in a “normal” state, but with the right intervention, the integrity of these already not quite solid areas can be compromised. This is what we will do. Quite simply, we break the laws of physics. But only..."The girl faded a little and sustain some pause."Only there are some risks. Do you know about the tragedy that happened in Texas?" "Yes, I heard about that, three centuries ago, someone overly confident went too far and, as a result, flopped so that for a hundred miles everything has been destroyed, even a remote research base. Now there is only radiation and a lot of debris..." "It is precisely this outcome that I fear. During the calibration of the equipment and the process of opening with the subsequent stabilization of the Hole, gradual and leisurely is important. Gently and gradually ~ As with a woman."She said next, playfully winking at the last sentence. "We should not be disturbed and there should not be any unforeseen situations. Whether it’s a reactor breakdown, the appearance of unwanted witnesses, the massacres committed by nomads, and a whole thousand of all kinds of risk factors. Maximum accuracy and consistency are required."
After listening to the girl’s story and not failing to pay attention to a strange hint at the end, the captain thought for a while and almost did not notice anything around, until someone attentive announced that they were already in place. "What? We already there? Thank you, Terry, watch out for the radars so that we are not taken by surprise. William turned on the camera and radio again with the ship Tereshkova. "Go ahead, Miss Tereshkova. Show what your toy is capable of. And yet, where will this hole lead if it is launched?" "Well..."The girl pointedly answered."Judging by the readings of the instruments, the hyperspace corridor that we reveal will find a way out somewhere outside the territories that belong to Bretonia. I can’t say more precisely. It can be distant Omega and Taus, or maybe even we will open a new system or a parallel dimension!. It is not possible to calculate more accurately. There are several places whose indicators correspond to those registered in this particular place. One of them in Tau 23. The second in Omega 47 and the third in Zurich. I don’t know which exit of the jump hole will work. So we have to rely on luck ..." Following this, the professor began to give commands to the crew of her research vessel. "Roman - watch out for the hyperspace disturbance scanner."
"Helga - prepare the device for ejection."
"Wolfgang - keep an eye on the super-frequency recorder." And many other names and clear commands were consistently pronounced by Tereshkova.
Ultimately, after the operational preparation, the device mounted in the cargo bay was ejected with force and move out away from the Prometheus and Mafdet. Minutes later scanner began to detect anomaly in the area. "This is it. The process will continue for the next several days until jumphole gets stabilized. Only remains to wait".
