I haven't played freelancer for 14 years. I used to play all the time with my old man. We started playing on this server about 3 to 4 weeks ago. Currently we made some Molly characters, and Bounty Hunter Characters (which we hope to transfer those into the core) And just some freelancer do whatever we want characters.
I did have a question about The Core. I flew into Core space at Omicron Rho... even though I am friendly with them none of the bases or stations offer any missions to do to gain additional rep and money... is this normal... do I need to be 100% friendly enable to do this...
Usually what you'd do is a /restart command to make a character for a certain faction.
As for missions I'm not sure. It's not often people gain rep the hard way. I wouldn't say it's normal for a station to not provide missions. If the station has a health bar it's a player owned base which won't have missions let alone sell standard gear.
You can only restart with a new character. And the command to see all available restarts is /showrestarts
Other important commands for your characters and money are:
/Givecash
/set cashcode [code]
/Drawcash [charname] [cashcode] [amount]
/droprep [name of faction]
