I'm one of those people that played the game that came before Freelancer, Privateer, and liked that one, even if the graphics were quite simple.
Then I got Freelancer, played it WAY too darned much, downloaded mods for it (but mostly the Star Trek ones), and then set the game aside for a while because I wasn't that keen on multi-player PvP ness. (I played on a couple of servers that I have no idea what they were then, and got blown up too much - which wasn't a lot of fun for me.)
I was cleaning up my office and found the Freelancer Disk, put it back in, and replayed it again. Then I went looking for more mods for it, and found how big the Disco mod was. Installed it, played through it in SP and it was really cool. I was playing some SP, and then finally went to (and found) the server work-around.
That was a case of - whoa, look at all this stuff. Maybe that might be fun to try. So I started my first character - kept him rather low-key, did some missions, read some stuff on the forums, and learned what was going on. (One of my bad experiences on here was as a new trader, just learning, and forming into a convoy with someone for the run of prisoners from Edinburgh to New Berlin - and my ship flew into the planet because he swung wide.)
This is, other than poker, the only online game I play, and darned near the ONLY game I play, period.

Was browsing around on Lancer's Reactor, and I saw the name "Discovery." I thought, "Hey, this sounds cool." Then somehow I thought that Earth was in the mod so I thought, "Cool! I wanna download this!"
When I joined up, I found out it was a highly populated mod, so I stuck with it, not knowing it was a Rolepley mod at first. I was one of the "lolwut'ers" when I first came here. I even was one of the notorious Corsair PvP whores at one time with a Cruiser. I eventually got used to the idea of "Role Playing," and I very much enjoy it nowadays..
You can now find me *yukin' it up* as a Xeno, or ***Mindsharing*** as a nomad. I'm also thinking of making a Gaian soon, since my friend is joining Freelancer as one. Don't bother trying to recruit us [NLH]. I would gladly join if I myself alone was becoming a gaian, but my friend wants the Gaian Gunship, and since you guys probably restrict that thing to your higher ranks, he wouldn't be able to use it until spending at least a month with you guys. I also feel I wouldn't be able to do stuff as much with my friend if I was a part of the NLH and he wasn't, hence we will most likely not be accepting invitations, unless of course my friend would be allowed to use the Gunship right off the bat, but I doubt you would allow that (He would use a gunship, I would be the fighter escort. I will try and figure out how the Roleplay works, so that my friend doesn't turn into your typical gunship PvP whore)..
Anyways! That's how I found out about Discovery.

After i had done all vanilla freelancer, exploring all and tryed all, i was searching pictures and artworks when i found a caps ship mod on modb. i searched after a mod more complete and found disco 4.84.
Since i tryed others mod, but no one really respect vanilla freelancer spirit so... i'm again here.
I explored it completly ( 100 hours in open sp ) before try for the first time online. I was surprised for two reasons : first, i never had to speak english - Second : i never had RP experience.
I got time to learn how it's working here, created a forum accout and learned to RP.

Summer two years ago I was bored and remembered Freelancer being choden the best simulator game of 2003 in some gaming magazine, so I decided to simply try it out..
Went through the SP. After finishing, I thought to myself "Are there any mods for this?" (which I do with pretty much every game I play) And yes, there were. The first (and only) one I clicked was 4.83.
