I can't seem to do that anymore, the yeehawing and endless Manhattan flybys have killed some of the terror of being a Xeno, and the Rheinland Liberty embargo has killed off Hudson and Bering.
That makes it very hard to actually be terrifying, I remeber Coachy and Copeerhead blunting trade in Bering with nothing more than a pair of really buggy preagles. Them was good times. Alas cargo interdiction ahs taken a back seat to PvP and that makes being a Xeno a lot less fun in my eyes. Xenos, like Rogues, should pick their fights wisely not just run headlong into combat at the first sign of a lawful tag. It just doesn't feel right for an underfunded under organised bunch of ex blue collar workers to be wanting to go toe to toe with a much superior warmachine that could, in theory, rip us to shreds. Especially after nearly being hounded out of Colorado by the LPI only a few years ago.
Thats what I attempt to do with my Xenos as much as possible. My Xenos does less pvp than my BAF does, which is kind of sad, but I'm proud of it at the same time. This is also why my character doesn't act as you'd expect her to. Act like a fury-crazed terrorist and I get mobbed the moment I step in NY. I make people think I'm anything but a Xenos and I can manage to RP without getting overkilled. Then I use that to find lone targets to RP with before they lose their patience and start blasting.
And yes.. No more Manhatten sweeps! I'm getting tired of running off to help some other Xenos and finding them outside Manhatten.. If you want to fight LPI or LN, there are plenty ways to lure them out. With the exception of going there to help others already engaged, I've started attacks at Manhatten TWICE. Once when I spotted John Talon there in his fighter (and he docked quickly after the fight started.. -.-), for I viewed the life of LN's Fleet Admiral worth more than the life of a single Xenos pilot.. The second was when I found a slave liner (Heavy Metal Queen) and its slave escort (Misao, played by Yue Fei). The planet was clear of LN/LPI at the time so I engaged in some fun RP before trying to take on the (heavily armored) slave liner and freeing Misao (that didn't quite work out.. >.>) The reasons for that are obvious. He was a junker and an active slaver. Both of which Xenos don't like, and my Xenos is particularly hateful of slavers.
' Wrote:Oh, as to the Gaians, the only thing I really know about them anymore is that they can’t, apparently, get enough of Kusari and want to haz luvvles with them all day every day.
Edit: Ahhh, the good ol Xeno days. Clueless, hopeless, completely outclassed in terrible ships. We were IC to the core.
Edit 2: Del, Hudson and Bering aren't nearly as dead as you might think. From my LPI experience I can assure you that we get traders through there all the time regardless. Though I hardly ever made it out there, on account of it being in the middle of nowhere.
@Edit; Those situations are the most fun.. Where your only chances of survival usually consisted of either talking your way out of a fight or finding your opponents when they were split up enough that you outnumbered them..
@Edit 2; Truth. I've seen a lot of traders out there regardless of the blockade. My OS&C Liner goes through there during its route and I usually pass 2-3 heading into Rheinland when I go through Bering.
@Original message; True to an extent.. Most Gaians have gotten really close to the Kusarians for reasons I can't fathom.. They are shooting BAF, yes, and we're allied to FA.. But KNF doesn't support our cause and we'd have to deal with KNF just as we have to deal with BAF right now. Furthermore, KNF is trying to conquer our home.. I don't find that conducive to a healthy relationship. My Gaian has had no involvement with Kusari except for paying an AFA to ship an Imp. Deb down to Edinburgh for me. My Gaian would not even help KNF against BAF unless they are outnumbered. She wants KNF out after it weakens BAF. Not KNF to conquer Bretonia. I'd assume the feelings by other Gaians would be similar, but haven't seen that so far.. Maybe the pursuit of pvp is getting a little too heavy with the Gaians these days..
Edit of edit: All I can say is; /signed Tubal. And I'll be on to help with the whole 'old-school Xeno-ing' once I get a new harddrive or a comp capable of more than 15fps. (15 fps makes PvP a moot point.. Might hop on for the RP though, but don't expect much from me when we get to the shooty-shooty.)
Now... I'm up for the Xeno thing. I've got a Griffin set up, named "Filth". I'll check the XA requirements, but I think I could hook up with you even without joining the faction. Just if you have a Skype chat, invite me in.
' Wrote:Nothing against XA here, but I personally find 'Yeha!' a bit out-of-keeping with Xenos..
The following post is written to be annoying, and also in character as Jack Tar (XA-Sidewinder).
I's thinkin' I be likin' the idea o' gettin' us some heavy ol' 'plosives rigged up in some heap o' junk 'fleas jus' so we can be sendin' them off to do the work o' the real folks o' the revolution.
Now i's tellin' y'all we's only got a few folks what dun' have no edu-whatsit in the Xeno Alliance. an' the leader, ma good self, be one o' dem. I;s got this to say 'bout that though. We dun' be needin' no education to be seein' the harm wes fightin' agin'.
Jus' to further ma argment Dabbykins. I's thinkin' yer dislike o' us folks who dun' talk the language o' dm folks whats in power come from the fact yer's a durned cop. I's not likin' seein' folks what dun' have them souls in the Kinghts litterin' the place up wid dem's fancy words. Now I's not mindin' the educated folks gettin' them head stuck inta the fastest growin' movement in liberty. Hell. It were ol' Mr Greeson what raught me ever'thin' I's needin' to know a-fore I's got me outta jail. An' him's finished high-scholl an' all.... Haw haw.
Politics be the comain o' the people. An if I dun' be people I dun' be knowin' what be.
(And back out of character.)
Dab, as much as I agree with your sentiment that there are too may YEEEHAWING xenos, I think it does (in a sence at least) fit. It's a common man's revolutionary group. People involved in such things are not university educated people. They are often blue collar people who are bitter and angry. Look at most of the labour movements of the great depression. Many of them were spawned of people who had zero education, rural upbringins, and little t no money. They are the underpaid and depressed, looking for an angry outlet to their frustration. Jack Tar (Sidewinder) is a stereotype, sure. But one that makes the point it needs to make about the ideas behind it. I would encourage people to attempt to type with a bronx accent if it were more practical.
EDT: Hirb. I'll sling you in to the Xeno general chat as soon as I get home unless someone else does it first. Anyone who can add Hribek who is in the chat, please go ahead. The XA requirements are pretty easy to cope with if you wanna RP a xeno. The 8 hours in a hawk/'blazer are a doddle if you enjoy the RP. I did mine 50k above manhattan shouting blue murder and propaganda over system comms. I miss those days.
You're welcome to sling an app in as and when you want.

First, you've got way too much time on your hands when you make an IC response on this. As punishment, you are required to spend the rest of your excess time trading and giving me all your money.
Anyway, don't expect my Xenos to take you calling her a cop.. She might throw a few shots towards you, or trick you into a fight with LN that you won't win..
The fact that these are blue-collar laborers has little to do with the Yeehawing. They aren't college educated, thats true, but that doesn't mean they'll go about yelling Yeehaw.. The most in-RP thing for Xenos would be to throw insults filled with curse words at their enemies. Obviously we can't curse at our enemies, so we have to get a bit more wordy. But their education and upbringing factors into the slang and attitude someone has.. Yeehaw isn't slang. By what you say, the gang members in poor parts of America's major cites should go about yelling Yeehaw.. They get less than the average High School education, but they don't act in any way like the Xenos I've seen. An insult would come much more readily than any joke to the lips of a Xenos when he has his enemies in sight.
I focus more on the hatred and anger of the Xenos than the poor economic situation. That can usually be conveyed rather easily with system chat.
And we already added Hribek (and Dusty) to the chat.
Dab. I don't know if you've ever actualy heard the XA RP that appears in system chat. Let me tell you a few things about it.
1. It's rather well researched.
2. Despite the fact that Jack Tar is a redneck, he does understand what he's all about. It's not mindless yeehawing, thats just his accent and manner.
3. Radio Free Liberty, which we 'broadcast' from time to time is propaganda which is improvised and done entirely on the fly. It's filled with nagry economic arguments and political concerns, not "kill dem lawdawgs" repeated over and over.
I do agree with you about the number of yeehawing xenos and that is partialy my fault. The xenos would draw people from all soprts of backgrounds and upbringings. I know that a lot of the people I have high up in the XA are a lot better educated than the guy who leads them.
If you were to listen to the way my character speaks alongside the way Del's XA character speaks for example you'd notice a marked (very marked) difference. Diversity in a group who are opposed to diversity. Heh, didn't see that coming. I suggest you spend some time working with the XA before you sling . I don't think Ive ever actualy seen your xeno aound... Ever.
Then again, I could also ask the BAF to lose the endlessly hyphonated names and "lord blah blah blah" titles due to it being a massive stereotype, but the game is -full- of stereotypes.
Posting is cut short, so I'm gunna have to stop here... Time concerns.
