From: Forcemaster of the Core Force To: All Core marines and fightercraft operators Subject: Amorgos assault, Saturday 5th, volunteers needed
The time has come. We have located Corsair activity on the artifact and ruin rich Amorogos, as reported previously.
A location of an immensely valuable artifact has been identified, their defenses are not strongly present near it, but reinforcements are expected to come swiftly. This is the time to strike!
Plan of attack
Custom adapted Bullhead Battlecruiser with Breaker Turrent precise long range weaponry will deploy a small task force of fightercraft that will deploy Core Marines to the surface who will retrieve the valuable artifact, while being provided cover from the Battlecruiser bombardment.
We will be fighting against time, our fightercraft must take down their fighter resistance before they can call for reinforcements. We will retreive the artifact and depart the area swiftly.
We are calling on the best of the best of you, body augmentations are recommended, heavy fighting is guarenteed. The operation will take place next Saturday. For the Empire!
This Friday at Nineteen Hundred Hours the Amorgos assault took place. Our modified battlecruiser deployed a massive force and began the long range distracting bombardment. Core heroes have even attracted various allies in the system to assist our operation.
Our intel has been wrong however - the Corsairs have hidden a sizeable fighter craft armada and even boarding parties in the vicinity of the moon. What was supposed to be a fast and clean capture and run operation has turned into a massive firefight and a desparate battle for survival as our fighter craft had to beat their fighter wings or our battlecruiser would be boarded and lost and Corsair reinforcements would arrive, while extraction teams have gone on to try to recover the artifact.
After heavy back and forths and after suffering heavy casualties our combat team has prevailed, fended off the Corsair fighters and boarding parties and made escape with the important artifact.
Future plans
The artifact will be studied but one thing is clear - to return to Amorgos and consider taking control would right now prove very costly when a defense this heavy and even boarding parties were present without any of our previous presence.
The Corsairs have been alerted to our interest and nothing but a full scale invasion of Omicron Xi with the full combined might of The Core and our allies would allow us to take full control of the moon.
