I would like to inquire about two incidents which happened in the recent days that have somewhat disturbed the atmosphere in Heraklion political circles. I am sending this message on behalf of the Archon, with his permission and authorisation.
The first is the message[1] from the Deterrance which supposedly hints at the formation of an alternative legislative body within the Corsair Empire. I should like to mention that we have no interest in any upstart enterprises initiated by them, and I have already confirmed with the man responsible for communicating with Hogosha and Deterrence that his name there seems to have been placed in error. I am not certain why the Deterrence would decide to undertake such a rash step in response to a deal which, frankly, seems like a diplomatic achievement on a scale unheard of in recent years. Perhaps the Council knows more and would see it worthwhile to fill us in?
The second is a reply[2] to the Hogosha by Elder Rodriguez regarding the status of Custodi and the Council of Elders. While our presence within the Council has been noticeably missing as of the last few months, I must remind you of the agreement we made years ago with the Council, according to which Custodi refrain from participating directly in the Council of Elders in exchange for the privilege of vetoing the Council resolutions pertaining to the Custodi that our nation deems harmful to our interests. Thankfully we haven't had a reason to exercise that privilege in decades, and we have steadfastly supported the policy of the Council and its mandate to be the primary uniting power of Crete.
While the position of Ambassador to the Council is currently vacant, I would like to ensure that the relationship between the Council and the Custodi has not changed and the words of Elder Rodriguez were an error in communication. We intend to continue our support of the Council of Elders, as long as the Council can confirm that our standing is as it used to be and should we appoint a new Ambassador, he or she will be greeted with the same dignity as Ambassador Nikitas was when he assumed that position.

First of all it good to have news from you. We didn't have news from Custodi for years and it's heart warming to see you. For the first point, we are aware that the group called Deterrence expect to do some change within the empire. While the council encourage initiative, we are not, at this moment, in the possibility of telling if this is a big joke or simply a self-centered egomaniac dream. The orginal deal with Kusari, was overview by Senor Rodriguez. For years, he been working to, he hope, make a deal with Kusari. The first step was done years ago when Kusari governement removed our pilots from the "wanted" list. The original idea was, for the brotherhood, to get rid the Samura's middlemen and distribute the artifacts within the Kusarian space. The governement in place decided the deal should be for all the corsairs so, the elders in place, Alberto Rodriguez from Brotherhood, Luciano Vasquez From the brotherhood and Hector Beltran representing the non-affiliated corsairs had to push the deal to the empire.
Obviously, the leader of Deterrence didn't quite liked the deal. The Elders offered them seats so many time they can't keep the count. Since they never appointed any Elders, the council concidered they we're allowed to speak in behalf of the whole empire. Seem like someone got offended by this but i shall point out that the elders closed their eyes when they built this awful facility in front of Crete or welcomed the unioners within in the empire without prior request about the status between then empire and those gringos.
If you ever have interest into have a Custodi representative within the council, by tradition, the elders agreed that your current vacant seat to be reinstated. This way, we would once again have a council worthy of this name. The council comfirm that Ambassador Nikita will receive all due respect he deserve. The council would be happy to have advices from him.
For Elder Rodriguez, he was fast on reply because he wasn't fed the right information by my PR personnel. I apologize for making such mistake. If will make sure he get the right informations and fix his error. I deeply regret that my error led to this. I didn't nor, i'm sure, he him wanted to insult you or your population.
The Council of Elders is and will continue to be the only acting entity representing the empire. With your support and the support of the Brotherhood, the empire is as strong as ever.
