How do I play as Luigi?

Well according to GameFAQs, it says....

Use Luigi

On the screen with Mario standing, it keeps beeping. Press Select and you will be Luigi.

Hopefully you understood that, because Ive played SMBDX and I dont remember that.

Between levels, you'll see a sort of map, much akin to Super Mario World. That's the screen you press select on.
