Not been on in quite some time and a few things seem to have changed since I last played consistently.
The mining has totally changed, it's not a fast process with a single beam now. I assume thats as intended?
The money seems to have been divided by something like a factor of 100? Certainly have a lot less money than I used to. Also all the trade routes I used to use, don't really seem to matter anymore. Is there anywhere that has some of the more profitable runs on there to refer to?
Also, I have a Gammu AI character that I had docked on Planet Gammu. Imagine my surprise to find that the Core have taken over the home planet as I exited dock. Is there a new home for Gammu characters now or is the faction obsolete? I noticed a new one called the Technocracy that may be in it's spot but I dont know where the home planet is for that one either.
Any help with some of these questions would be appreciated guys! Cheers.
AI bases have converted over to the Technocracy of Auxo. There's one down in Omega-48, Inverness, and one in Pi that is fighter/freighter only (?) I think. I only came back recently myself.
You can still make good use of FLStat to find trade routes, but most mining has been changed. POBs can refine Ore into more valuable minerals for better profit. Credits and values were all divided by 100, which honestly makes the transition from the vanilla economy into disco so much more easy to understand without all that inflation. What was once 2 mil is now only 20k.
Mining was moved from having a bunch of guns to a single gun, but speed doesn't seem to be too different since you're still shooting a rock at a time - yes, it's intended
Money was zimbabwe'd at 1:100 and economy is kind of in shambles - but there's a handful of good routes hauling high value high risk commodities like gold and irridium around
AI has been a bit of a vestigial easter egg hanging off the side of the omicrons for a good long while now, it's kinda obsolete. The technocracy isn't an AI faction, but it's technology equals might and shenanigans - worth a look but don't expect continuity with the old AI faction lore

I literally just used the info in FLStat to build a spreadsheet for Disco Commodities and in looking at it I would describe the use of the word "shambles" to be a generous description.
Too damn close to half of all "best sell price" locations are in Gallia and Omicrons at the extreme NW and SE corners of the map, and way too many are at Unlawful bases or those otherwise hostile to common trading ID's.
That and the most valuable mineable resources being pigeon-holed into dead end locations and/or unlawfully controlled areas. (much to the delight of the pirates, for whom specifically this "economy" seems to have been tailored)
I'm happy to see that mineable resources have been folded into POB factory recipes, which is a good basis for a truly working economy, but it cannot sustain an economy alone and a further fleshed-out economy for the standard NPC commodities is needed. Otherwise, they serve no purpose.
Surely, something better than the low standard of "it's worth the most at the furthest point from where you got it" can be devised? Supply & Demand, maybe?
