Good day, Doc! As per your request, I am sending you an official, detailed report about the situation in Inverness, home to our dear friends of the Technocracy. Hopefully, this will give you and MFE some insight in the most recent developments there, and assists in making crucial decisions for us and our allies alike. Oh, and thank you again for putting me at the helm of this recon and diplomatic mission. Nice change of pace.
*He clears his throat*
Ahem, now! Let's start with the overall status. I had a talk with Leviathan about the current general strategic outlook. The following is trustyworthy, first-hand information.
First off, some shifts in hyperspace or...whatever was the case, I am not a physicist after all...opened up a new front to Ontario. From there, the Xenos pose a direct threat to the system.
All while presenting a shorter way of incursion for the Liberty Navy, the common nemesis of Zoners since the Erie incident, and also not exactly a fan of Auxo. A small task group was already seen buggering around close to jumpholes there. Consequently, a small skirmish ensued between our allies and the Navy, which has only furthered the deterioration of the situation.
The Crayter Republic in Coronado apparently got wind of the escalation, and broke the already unsteady ceasefire agreement in order to use the increasing instability, and to get closer to their dear friends in Liberty. Which makes this officially a two-front war at this point.
And lastely, the uncertainty of Bretonia's imperial stance towards Inverness and the old animosities with the Outcast Alliance spice up things even further for the Technocracy. The cherry on top would be the gathering of a group known as the Task Force Prometheus, or TFP for short, inside Inverness. Most likely the reason for Liberty getting nosey around these parts of Sirius.
*Having finished the situation report, Hans takes a sip of water before continuing*
To put it in a nutshell, the Technocracy is being thrown in at the deep end with these sudden, multiple and new threats. And with it, the stability of the whole area, including Freeport 14. Since we have cordial relations with both of them, and owing a certain responsibility towards all Zoner groups, I'd say we are in this mess together. This sentiment is also shared with the Technocracy itself, who already offered to include the Freeport into a zone of protection against any upcoming calamities. This involvement, quite frankly, would also mark the station as a potential target, but at the same time offers additional defensive capabilities. Then again, all parties involved are not know to always respect civilian targets, so even on its own, the Freeport might become the subject of a raid, or occupation to establish a FOW. These are my two cents of thoughts about it.
Additionally, while we do not have much firepower on our own, MedForce might be able to help in other ways. Our humanitarian efforts can support anyone willing to fight alongside the Technocracy and us. Fuel, medical support, urgently needed pharmaceuticals and supplies...you name it. We are specialised in these kinds of operations, after all. This is why such help from our side was enquired in the same sentence as the Freeport protection offer.
*Goeben quickly ponders if he forgot to mention anything, then nods*
Yeah, this should be all of it. The offers for mutual assistance was laid open to us, but as of now, nothing was agreed upon or signed. Wanted to give a SitRep first. You got my input on the matter as well, but the final decision lies naturally with you, boss. It is a tough decision to either help our friends and potentially being dragged into yet another conflict by it, or to leave them to their fate...and the question remains if the Freeport administration itself even cares for, or recognises, our involvement in the first place, regarding that defense pact.
I'll stay in the area for now to relay any news, and to privately help with preparations and negotiations. Best of luck and godspeed,
