Sender:Anastasia "Vela" Focht Recipient:"Croaghanmoira", Galway Frontiers Production wing Subject:Contractual Agreements
Good evening.
Per our last conversation, I am obliged to inform that we, the pilots within the Aegis Initiative operating in Bretonia, have agreed to put forward a contract with the following terms:
- Available Aegis Initiative assets will be directed to escort and protect Galway Frontiers Production and Logistics vessels participating in the mining efforts of gold and the logistical and transport efforts with relation to its sale for profit.
- Galway Frontiers logistics and production vessels will pay each Aegis Initiative asset involved in their escort 10% of the profit (or expected profit, for miners bringing ore to be processed) on a per-run basis. Provision will not be made for performance bonuses on a per-kill basis. Operating and repair costs will be recouped via relevant bounty authorities.
- The contract will be deemed "complete" at the sole discretion of Galway Frontiers. The Aegis Initiative reserves the right to withdraw assets with immediate effect, irrespective of context or circumstance, should Galway Frontiers choose to engage this option.
Should these terms be deemed agreeable to you, you may consider the contract active as soon as you signal your agreement, and may request the escort of any available Aegis Initiative asset following the above terms and conditions.
This communiqué was recently forwarded to me by our diligent, hard-working colleagues in the Production Department. While I value our brave frontier AM-333 operators immensely, they don't quite have the knack for diplomacy and business arrangements -- like the ones you are proposing in this very message -- that I do. Nor does their signature carry the weight mine does.
First, allow me to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you and your fellow Aegis Initiative pilots for their excellent services these last few weeks. The safety and efficiency of our operations are paramount, and it is, in part, thanks to your exceptionally talented wingmen and women that we were able to establish a foothold, once again, in Dublin. There is no doubt in my mind that before long, we will be able to reclaim the BMM Gold Field and begin the reconstruction of Graves Station.
Now, let's not delay any further, and get to the meat and potatoes of this dialogue, your proposed contract. While, at first glance, it does not strike me as particularly unconventional, I do believe that there is a need for some further refinement. The rate you mentioned - per ship - is, after all, rather steep. Even we, at Galway Frontiers, do not have endlessly deep pockets.
We are however very fortunate. Your organization, known to employ highly proficient individuals, surely needn't field entire fleets to secure our operations. We do, after all, have our very own security wing, and in addition, have been able to count on the Queen's finest in the Armed Forces to come to our aid in the most dire of situations. Therefore, I suggest the following replacement of the terms listed in the second bullet point of your proposed contract:
Galway Frontiers (henceforth "the company") offers independent security contractors the following rates of pay, based on enemy activity in and around Galway Frontiers areas of operation:
- Base rate, grade "C" - standard rate of pay for escort pilots. No active enemy combatants in the area of operations or neighboring systems. Presence of enemy combatants immediately increases pay rate from grade "C" to relative higher bracket.
- Grade "B" - beginning hazard pay rate. Terrorist activity noted in neighboring systems, no active combatants in company area of operations. Passive deterrence.
- Grade "A" - combat is to be expected, with pay commensurate. Terrorist activity has been noted in-system, but outside immediate area of operations. Active deterrence.
- Grade "AA" - combat pay. Terrorist threats actively within the vicinity of company assets or area of operations. Authorized only for active combatants.
- Grade "AAA" - combat pay, actions in direct defense of company assets, with recorded destruction of terrorist or pirate vessels.
Rates C, B and A are calculated on an hourly basis:
- Grade C: $63,275 per hour
- Grade B: $126,350 per hour
- Grade A: $152,500 per hour
Active combat pay for grades AA and AAA is provided as flat sums, not scaling with the number of Aegis Initiative personnel, but per Galway Frontiers Logistics (LOG) or Production (PRD) vessel secured due to Aegis intervention:
- Grade AA: $250,000 per vessel secured
- Grade AAA: $500,000 per vessel secured
Please note that the active combat pay sums listed are intended to compensate the Aegis Initiative as a whole, and are not calculated per Aegis operative present. I believe that it would be much more appropriate for the Aegis Initiative itself to then redistribute these sums as a salary among its pilots, in the event of multiple being present at any one particular moment. In addition, should an operation truly demand a significant Initiative deployment, it would be more than safe to assume that these very same situations would then allow your pilots to make numerous bounty claims with the Crown's bounty boards shortly thereafter, more than covering any expenses.
If you deem these modifications acceptable, I believe we can move forward with this agreement. I look forward to your consideration.
The general template of your proposed contract is agreeable, however I would point out that the presence of Initiative assets in and of itself is a highly effective deterrence. As such, I would prefer more value be weighted towards the hourly rates. Please see the suggested adjustments in bold below.
