To the office of the Ministry of Defense,

Unless I'm mistaken, this is my first communication to the Crayter Military directly, so I'll make an introduction despite our reputation in the field. I am Maria Cortez, current Defense Secretary for the Republic of Malta. In the past, Senor Santiago was the one to address the Military with matters regarding defense. With events occurring at Lipari, however, a matter has once again arisen requiring contact.

Following the recent escalation of some activity involving both the Nationalists from Malta as well as our neighbors in Gallia, Tau-44 has seen recent activity that the Armed Forces simply are not capable of responding to. While our defense vessels are capable, they are not of substantial enough numbers to repel the firepower that we've encountered within the Tau sector as of late. As such, I'm submitting a notice to the Crayter Military that the Republic is beginning preparations to transfer and modernize our mothballed assets currently in dock at Sabah Shipyard. I will be authorizing personnel to activate both capital-grade vessels, Santa Maria and Navarra, as well as their escorts and begin preparations for their transfer to Sulawesi pending internment at a new facility within Tau-44. Expect their arrival within the next week.

On a related note, I'd also like to know Crayter's position on authorizing the movement of the captured Hellfire Legion dreadnought Ven'Gyr to the Armed Forces' command as well. I'm aware the vessel is officially under the Military's jurisdiction, but seeing as the vessel is still idle within Sabah's drydocks after half a decade with minimal maintenance, I see no reason Crayter should keep devoting resources towards the status quo. I can assure you the Armed Forces will put the ship to far better use defending Eolie and Borneo's inhabitants, and I'm sure the extra mooring space will assist with the Military's operations in neighboring Inverness.

I await your response.

For the Republic.

I am Scott Garan, current standing Fleet Admiral of the Crayter First Fleet. I have read over your ship release request, and looked through some local patrol reports through the deeper tau sectors. The recent spike in attention from foreign nations can be lead back to a possible "civil matter" between a bretonian corporation and the miners guild over mining disputes. They have since ceased their squabble but activity in the area retain onlookers attention and will likely continue for the near future. The ships Santa Maria and Navarra are hereby released into Republica de Malta for the protection of Tau-44.

The vessel known as Ven'Gyr is currently under CIS custody, but I've sent a release form pending with the service for some time now. They want to keep their hands tight around it under lock and key.
They've purposed to brainwash enough Insurgency inmates to crew the Ven'Gyr and it's fighter wing, but I will not let them run off with such an idiotic idea. It would be far better should it be in loyal hands of the Republic.

For those we left behind.

Admiral Garan,

I'm aware of the escalation within Tau-23. The Armed Forces was deployed to the area recently during the fighting, I'm hopeful it was a one-off occasion, but in the event something similar were to happen, particularly involving the Outcasts, it will put our people at ease knowing the Armed Forces is better equipped to deal with it.

If the CIS has had the Ven'Gyr in their custody since it was acquired, which is an assumption I feel safe making, then they should have had plenty of time to study it and detail its inner workings in the five years since the Insurgency was eliminated. If they haven't, then I'm fairly certain they can make a full and substantive argument to the President about a liaison to continue studying the ship in operation.
I and the Republic appreciate your placement of trust, as well as your opposition to quite.. unsettling methods proposed by the CIS. Please inform me once your order of release for the ship should make any headway. In anticipation, I'll ask Ms. Cleese to order extra berths for Ferrol.

Thank you, Admiral.

I await your response.

For the Republic.
