OK now some of these have been bothering me for a while and it may just be because I cannot interpret the rules correctly... Most of these just require some clarification.
1. Let me get this down here. Once a player reaches level 40 he/she must get an ID besides the civilian one given at thee beginning. If that ID is not a Mercenary/Bounty Hunter/Freelancer ID the player must also affiliate himself with a faction... Only one faction on one account, correct? And after that player has done so, is he/she free to drift from faction to faction and ID to ID at will? Like for example if I were to obtain a Libery Police ID could I later transfer to a Bretonnia Armed Forces ID and after that to a Bounty Hunter ID? Of am I stuck with whatever I get at first?
2. Would a Freelancer/mercenary/bounty hunter be confined to having a matching set of ship equipment? Of would it be fine to have a bounty hunter Barracuda, some liberty guns and some zoners guns? So long as you have a story that explains it?
3. Speaking of stories, Is a person obligated to come up with a story for his/her character? if so (probably) what should this background story contain?
4. How does one grow in levels? In the original FL it was based on worth but I see no "current worth" or "next Level Worth requirements" in Discovery.
5. How does trading and credit sending b/w two players work? do they need to be on the same server or in the same system?
6. What sort of Tag would a freelancer/bounty hunter/mercenary ID holder have?
7. How do the player made factions work? do they have ID's too or are they organisations within other ID types?
Pardon my ignorance but this whole online thing is remarkably new to me... And the last thing I want to do is something wrong.

Hum hello to you KOTOR I fan. It's nice to see someone who doesn't know too much about the server and who takes the time to get it explained.
I'm going to answer your questions with the best of my knowledge.
1-You can only have 2 characters in 2 different >house< factions. I think house factions are Liberty, Rheinland, Bretonia, Kusari, Gallia, Corsair.
So, for instance, you can have 4 character in kusari (a kusari navy, a samura trader, a kusari police and Blood Dragons) and let's say 2 character in Liberty (navy, some liberty corporation). In this situation you wouldn't be allowed to make any other faction related character (I.E. A rheinland Bundschuh (I'm not sure about pirates! some would have to confirm this. but I'd be sure you wouldn't be allowed to make a Rheinland military). But you'D be able to make a character related to a neutral faction like a Zoner or a junker.
3-Well, not necessarily. But we love it when you have a story for your character. I think it's fine if you roleplay and come up with a story in the game. And it's better if you think a bit about your character's behavior.
4-Your level grows with the worth of your equipment/ship.
5-You can either trade with a player near of your ship or use the command [ /givecash "playername" "amountofcredits" ]
You cna also use [ /drawcash "playername" "securitycode" "amountofcredits" ] for withdrawing money from another player who has given you his password or, more likely, from another character you own after setting a code for you character with this command [ /setcashcode <code> ]
6-I'd say it's not really important. You can either try not to be tagged (by giving up mission to lower your rep with them) or more simply, be tagged with the faction you are working the most for. But a bounty hunter would have a bounty hunter tag. And.. I'm not sure if it's possible to have a freelancer tag (Maybe freelancer rep raises with a freelancer ID, I've never been a freelancer)
7-Well, for the exception of the Coalition faction that can be only joined through RP, normal player factions are using NPC faction IDs or non-faction IDs. If you join a faction you'll be told.
I was feeling helpful today but next time try to search on the forum for the rules and if you're not sure read them again before asking. Normally, everything is explained very clearly.

not really just he was the best guy I could find that I liked... anyway

Ah, ok but would you be able to change your character's allegiances? Say if I have one character only. I align him with the Liberty Navy upon reaching level 40. After that, is it possible for him to abandon the Liberty Navy and become a Rhienland Police officer?
All that chart says is what I could use legally... But it does not address whether or not I can mix and match things on that list...

Ah well I may as well make one up... What I want to know is what I should adress in said story... How far back or how detailed should it be? Or are there no guidelines at all?
' Wrote:4-Your level grows with the worth of your equipment/ship.
Ok but is there no way of figuring out what the current worth is or next level worth requirement?

Hmmm ok cool thanks I'll have to set my pass...

by tag I meant what to put in front of your name In game... not really the rep situation
Thanks for info... I did search around but what i found didn't adress what I wanted to know... Or I felt that it wasn't clear to me...

Your questions were already answer but I feel I have to add a couple of things.

What Wariamu said is not true. You are not limited in how many different characters you can have. Doesn't matter if they're on the same account or not, you can have as many characters as you want, and whichever type you want. It's just that the same character can't be in two factions at once, because there's no way that someone can be an Outcast and say.. A Lane Hacker. A bit idiotic, but there's a small chance that someone might try to do something like this.
And yes, if you wish to change the RP of your character, just go and change the ID, tag, and ship and equipment where appropriate.
' Wrote:2. Would a Freelancer/mercenary/bounty hunter be confined to having a matching set of ship equipment? Of would it be fine to have a bounty hunter Barracuda, some liberty guns and some zoners guns? So long as you have a story that explains it?
As long as the guns do not conflict, it is okay.
That particular example would be allowed. (Not 100% sure because I am not an admin, but I am very sure)
As Wariamu linked you, check the Technology use chart to see what's allowed and what not.
' Wrote:3. Speaking of stories, Is a person obligated to come up with a story for his/her character? if so (probably) what should this background story contain?
No, it's not obligatory, however, it is very appreciated.
It can contain anything you want it to, whatever you wish to put in. Some basic information about origins I guess, and motives that the character has, etc.
It's really your choice what to do, there's not a defined line.
' Wrote:4. How does one grow in levels? In the original FL it was based on worth but I see no "current worth" or "next Level Worth requirements" in Discovery.
Wariamu is correct.
' Wrote:5. How does trading and credit sending b/w two players work? do they need to be on the same server or in the same system?
Again corrrect.
' Wrote:6. What sort of Tag would a freelancer/bounty hunter/mercenary ID holder have?
A Freelancer would mostly have a Freelancer tag. There are Freelancer bribes at the Barrier Gate Station in the Coronado system. That rep also slightly increases by taking Zoner bribes or doing Bounty Hunter missions(Not sure about this last one).
A Bounty Hunter would mostly have a Bounty Hunter tag, and a mercenary could go either without a tag, or the tag of his main employer.
' Wrote:7. How do the player made factions work? do they have ID's too or are they organisations within other ID types?
Some of them have the IDs of their NPC factions(Like Liberty Navy), some have their own IDs mostly because they differ from standard role play(IND, Hellfire Legion), and some factions are exclusive to their NPC faction, meaning only they can play it, such examples are Coalition, that is, SCRA, Phantoms, Colonial Remnant, because these three were created by those same players, and Keepers, because they're a sensitive faction to play and it wouldn't work with a bunch of people doing it without organization.
P.S.
Don't be afraid to ask about anything.

Quote:What Wariamu said is not true. You are not limited in how many different characters you can have.
I never said he was but maybe my example was a bit confusing. Anyway thanks for correcting me. I'm relatively new here too but I like to help when I can.
EDIT: oh wait perhaps you can clear this up for me, Do wrecks only give stuff periodically or do some wrecks just not have anything to give ever? Is it like a once a day basis or some such thing?
I've found two wrecks thus far and neither have yeilded anything to me.:(
EDIT2: Heh heh heh... one more for a bounty hunter probably... How do the bountys in the Employment Office's pinned topics work? how in sirius are you suppose to capture another player? Talk to them about it? Or how do you prove you took someone out when they can just respawn?
