Well, it takes us as players just a few minutes - no more than 30 - to go from one side of Sirius to the other. But that's game mechanics. We unload our huge ships with a click of a mouse button. That's game mechanics. (Trust me - I've unloaded enough semi-trailers to know how long that can take.)

In RP, I tend to go with it taking about a week to make it from New Berlin to New London, via the regular trade lanes. But of course, audio communications and ships always move at the speed of plot.
