' Wrote:The reason some people might think this is a liner is that the slot that it takes up in the freelancer code, and the name people see on FL stat is the Kusari Cruise Liner, but that is because the current ship REPLACED the old ship, (which wasn't really even a liner) it is a new ship, but some things still read the old name, but the ingame name, and the official name is the one listed above, which does not include the word liner.
The other thing making it seem to lean that way are the IDs, just as Samura, which specify they can only fly the "Kusari Liner".
The issue is that, initially Jinx wanted the ship to be a liner, that was back when Liners were not their own classification. It was always not meant to be like other Liners, lightly armed and lightly armored. When it was first named it was as the Kusari Liner, during the development process, we looked at the Geisha and compared it to the rest of the liners, and decided it didn't fit the mold at all and was much more in line with a transport, the reason it was named as it was, is because in rp its a luxury ship, sort of like the Yacht, but because it was so much weaker than the Liners, we changed the name, so that it wouldn't fall under the ID liner restrictions. The bit in the Samura ID is a little left over inconsistency from the Dev process and should be fixed.

Definatley, I've always been confused about that particular liner...
Also, I believe we need more liners. The ones we have now, are just not enough for a wide range of liners. At least, not enough for a ship type of its own, in my opinion.
The rules say a Liner is a transport. I think that's all you need to worry about. That said I got a sanction for using one which I am appealing as soon has Hoodlum gets back.
Ktayn actually does have a point. I just got done reading the rules again, top to bottom, and the rules do throw Liners in with Transports. This is a technicality because someone didn't think to edit the rules beyond cargo capacity, but it is still as the rules state; Liners are Transports.
While you might have to fight it, and they might force you to change either your ship or your ID anyway, I believe you can get off on a technicality in this instance. The best thing to do, though, is to try writing a special RP request and see how things go from there.
@Zelot: The Kusari Liner is still classified as a Liner in the wiki too. I have never looked at it's in game info card or even seen which base(s) it might be for sale on so I will not update the wiki, if it is, indeed, in need of update. As for my two cents, a yacht should also be classified as a Liner because it's designed with hauling people in mind. That should be the base indicator of whether or not a ship is classified as a liner; Was it designed to move people or materials? People = Liner. Other goods = Transport.
