Ok first I must say I hardly know anything about ISP's, networks etc....
Ok it must have been like 6 months ago when all of a sudden I kept getting constant heavy lag on ALL FL servers, before that my connection was fine. Never managed to fix it so I gave up but I miss playing FL so thats why am back.
Problem is I still experience this constant red lag problem, am fine for like 30secs then the lag indicator thing appears. I can't dock or interact with stuff and so I usually end up using ALT + F4 or something which isn't good. Its ok when player numbers are lower (which they usually aren't :() but otherwise I can't play online FL.
Now my ping is rarely over 100 and the /ping command shows that fluctation is usually 0 and lag is 0 but my loss is normally around 30%. After spending like a hour I finally figured out that means packet loss which I then had to learn about so I now know its bad.
Basicly I am quite sure this packet loss of usually 30% or over is wrecking my connection to the server....
So could someone explain what it is exactly and most importantly give help on lowering it cause am really getting mad not being able to play FL most of the time.
Am really stuck guys and I don't usually ask for help on forums unless I really have tried everything I know :(

I believe it is a home DSL, thats the one that uses a phone line right?
As I said I don't know much about this sort of thing but am very sure the router is connected to the phone line or something and DSL involves that I believe.
I run AVG virus scan every Sunday so I don't believe any virus etc is a problem.

Ok, that could be a cause of your problem.
DSL is very sensitive to interferences.
Low quality or old wiring is often a cause of interference.
Also, about how old is your house?
As said above, DSL is VERY old in technology terms now. I'm very surprised its not upgraded to ADSL, which is bog standard around here at the least. (Unless your very rural)
Contact your phone company, not your ISP (unless they're the same) and query about an ADSL upgrade. If they ask to pay, they're robbing you.
Was looking for the papers that came with the broadband package but couldn't find it so am still not 100% if its DSL or what. Oh and I live in a large town so I wouldn't say am rural :)
Guess I'll figure out what exactly my set up is then but I was wandering does having other devices connected through Wi-Fi to the wireless router affect this packet loss thing? Cause I have my PS3 connected to it as well as my dad who has the laptop and a garden shed of other random gadgets connected to the network.
This is how its all connected btw: Wireless router is connected through cable to the phone line, my PC is connected to the router by cable. Then we have the PS3 etc connected to the router by wireless.
I would recommend changing to broadband or at least to cabled internet. Althoug its your choice especially since broadband is pretty pricey in some areas of the world.
Internet by phone line only have one advantage compared to cabled internet actually, its the fact that while cable usually is only available near large cities in a range of maybe 100km or more around the large city, phone is available about everwhere.
