Now I get it, bingo. It's when an asteroid comes into your cursor your guns auto aims and tries to shoot it instead of your target.

Is this an actual viable combat tactic though?
I'd imagine not from in RP, since there would definitely be some sort of manual override, but it is currently a great way to make a snac miss. I don't know of any way to turn it off, however.

That seems to not be working for him. I haven't tested it myself.
No, he's trying to get rid of that "feature", and I'd like to know how to get rid of it too, without having to resort to not selecting my target.
The problem is that, say you're in a capship, fighting an enemy capship... the enemy capship fires a missile or two - suddenly you cant even hit the enemy cap because your guns keep trying to shoot at the damn missiles instead of the enemy craft.
It's also a problem in asteroid fields, when you're fighting in turret view. Whenever I try to shoot at fighters (even npc's) while in omicron minor, my guns continually target those stupid little floating rocks instead of the enemy ships. I almost wish they'd remove those rocks from any fields that arent mineable, because they're a huge annoyance for cap pilots.
