My name is Gerared Bernadotte and I may well be the last remaining Frenchman. My family came from the Liberty sleeper ship, where a remnent of the French nation found refuge and salvation. All French, all proud and all free. We have never been rich, but always could make the loose ends meet. Shipping jobs, factories, mines...
Lately, we have encountered extreme hardships...
All began shortly after the nomad war. Out-of Liberty companies baga flooding the market with cheap labour and thus my parents were made redundant... Liberty police, seeking fresh labour raided the house and arrested everyone but me. I hid. Everyone was dragged to Houston. Why employ if you can save-drive in the majesty of law?
After this, I had to do something... I have discovered, that I wasn't the only one to lose his parents in such a way. After a few months of work, terraforming California minor, A man aproached me in the Los Angeles tavern and asked to follow him, didn't want to initially, but his armament proved too convincing. In a back room, there was a man, sitting in the shadow. I couldn't recognize his face and even If I did, I most probably still wouldn't know, who he was. Looking at the way the others behaved in his company, he must have been someone important.
"We have been watching you, mister Bernadotte" he said
"We know of Liberty's crimes against you and your relatives and would like to extend a helping hand."
"My name is York. I am the leader of the xenos."
The xenos... Liberty was hunting them down to bits as terrorists, but these people didn't look like Liberty usually shew them...
After a longer talk, it turned out, that all the people I was surrounded by, the xenos, were victims of Liberty and its cherished "democracy". They invited me to join them. I knew it would be difficult, I knew it would very likely mean death... But let Liberty tremble for what the have done to me. Let the French once again become famous. The last of the French, fighting as his ancestors in the revolution, for la Liberte.
There was quite a battle near the junker base in Texas.
One lousy mercenary/bounty hunter (really dont know which worse and that individual combined both) received a bounty with me being its targe!
Maybe I am adecent pilot, but I haven't ost enough braincells yet to take a gunboat alone.
The rascal was cahsing me for a while, I mself got in touch with a pirate king of some sort... He seemed self-styled, but at least as two we had a chance against that gunboat. We met at the junker base and engaged the gunboat.
Dropping his shield wasn't difficult, but it took time. And time was what we lacked most. Soon, a liberty dreadnought appeared to aid the mercenary... Poor deal Not only did the Libertonin pay, but he had to get his hands dirty as well...
We could take the gunboat, but not the battleship, the "king" got shot down. Luckily, he ejected and junkers helped him. He called for backup, a /JG\ bomber. Its appearance hepled greatly. We could damage the gunbat significantly before he surrendered and the battlship had to withdraw due to ammo depletion (the former started to run and whine and the latter had to leave due to RL reasons)
Tha day was ours. Late on, York, my CO shew up and ordered a trade interdiction action in Texas. We were lucky, because one trade agreed to bribe us not to shoot him to bits. York didn't want his share and gave it to me.
Today, I received news, that I never expected. One independant miner on Ames told me, that his co-workers in Tau 23 along with the Colonials have encountered a new interstellar house - a French one! That is however, where the good news ended... For seemingly my compatriots are moslty warmongers, willing to conquer all of Sirius. There's some resistance though... I wonder if I could get some help from them - if their technology is at least half as advanced as that miner claimed - it would give us the advantage we need here, in Liberty. Sure hope I remember enough o the old language... Orkney, here I come!
Of other news... It seems like the gang dissipated. York's missing and so is Milia, Dunn and most others. I fear the worst... At any rate, since I'm experiencing more and more difficulties getting spare parts and ammo on ouray, figured joining the alliance would help. They don't seem to have any problems with repairs.... without queue...
Other than that - boring as heck. Random traders and very rarely any navy or even those police-like corporate thugs.
