I think that if 'dying' was permanent, i.e. character gets deleted, a lot of people would prefer to be arrested...
I play permadeath characters a lot...one recently died, because, more than wanting not to die, I didn't want to live on Fuychu.
I yeilded, and was escorted to Fuychu. I saw a chance to escape (the only escort with a CD jumped first) and I took it. I ran, and I ran. Unfortunately, I made some bad choices (or good choices, my computer's not as fast as it once was, and jumps often lead to the enemy catching up with me) and was caught up to..died to a snac.
I was arrested, it was brilliant...but playing a character who would be just as 'over' if confined to fuychu for a year, or however long, once death was not the immediate choice, I was looking for an out once again. Kudos to McNeo, by the way, for holding fire when I yield.
