For some reason my computer freezes about 15 minutes into playing discovery 4.85 on the multiplayer server. I don't know if it does this in SP too, but I suspect that it does. I've had this problem in the past, and I thought I'd finally fixed it. I've been playing for three days now, and until today, I've had no trouble. I've already deactivated 3D sound, and the effects thing. Does anyone know how to fix this?
P.S. Not sure if it would make a difference, but I am using the XPLOSIV Edition of the game, oh, and I've also tried a fresh reinstall of both the game and the mod
Also, this is entirely random, but try reinstalling the XML parser. CD>REDIST>MSXML3.msi
It's apparently caused issues of varying sorts before (Speaking from experience, it managed to screw up my graphics before)

No, I don't have skype, yet, I may download it sometime. It occured to me that I may have the game running on too high a quality, I'll lower the quality and see if that works. Thanks for all advice, I'll post later whether this works or not.
Update! I fiddled with some stuff, and played for about 2 1/2 hours yesterday without any trouble. I never did do anything with the parser, because I suddenly realized that I didn't know what that was. However, I did delete all the mods except for discovery in the mod file, and I reloaded the mod. Also on a hunch, I set about turning on a couple of more features. Its working for now (thank God). Thanks for all tips and advice!
Well, unfortunately it's still freezing, happened in the middle of a battle a few minutes ago, my apoligies to a rogue named Just....I may stop playing on the server, thanks to everyone for all the help...
