I will put forth once again that as a gun-whore I <3 the new bomber guns. But the EMPs I find need to either take up all my slots...and thus all my energy... or simply don't do enough to make the cut. SNAC is my shieldbuster, guns my hullcracker. Even against battleships sometimes.
I don't care about the stats. I can strip the shields off of things without hassle. Then smite them.

Let me tell you that, as a pure fighter pilot, bomber weapons are a real pain even in the current state. Agreed, they fly slowly, but when you're forced into a joust, the sheer amount of stuff flying around causes you to get hit anyway.
Get into a turning war, the VHF/HF/LF will win that one almost every time. He's going to start Nuke-mining eventually. CD a couple of them, pop off a MR shot, or gunsgunsguns, and pop goes the bomber.
My experiences have lead me to mount four hullcrackers on my bombers as well. As a result, I have a much better chance against fighters than I would with a EMP setup and SNAC. The Hullcrackers can strip shields easily enough, and still do a world of hurt when they hit a fighter.
EMPs are good for stripping that last bit of shield off your opponent when they regenerate before firing your SNAC...but you have to be careful not to use too much energy taking off those shields or you will end up not having enough energy to fire said SNAC.
Problem is if we reduce the energy useage of EMP bomber weapons, then they won't drain the powerplant enough and will be able to be fired indeffinitely, or near enough. Especially on heavier bombers.
Energy efficeny isn't always everything, in fact it's only better for sustained fire. With a bomber you can deal a lot of damage in a short burst, which means you don't have to face your opponent as long to bring their shields down.

This applied before too.
But now, out of joust, bomber guns arent really good, since they are very slow. But let say they are pretty darn good to kill transports.
