Phew good thing I don't trade anymore/
Anyway whats so different in this feature? Wasn't I ALWAYS respawning anyway, without the fancy character standing next to ship? I always RP'd with an escape pod. Life in space is meaningless without escape pod. Even the NPCs have one.
So when my ship gets blown up, no BEFORE my ship even reaches 20% hull, all non essential personnel are ejected. At 10%, automatic defenses are turned on, the ship is reduced to a skeleton crew which is basically just me in my pod/command console. At this point focus is to run not to fight. As the ship's hull starts to break I'm already clear of the blast zone, and moving at extreme speeds to the nearest base (maybe 1000-ish) and in a pod with the rest of the bridge crew.
I still think Eve's ressurection method is more believable but I'd be fried alive if I rp like tat:P
This is just a crowd-pleasing announcement being made to lessen the backlash when the community realises they spent the entire .86 development cycle making this so-called "feature" work.
I am disgusted. What next, regenerating health? Infinite ammo? Enjoy your easymode, casuals.
