I've been nagging people on Skype, but everybody's a jerk on Skype. Now, nice people on the forums. Tell me how I can mess around in my own server / invite friends to join said server?

Load C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\flserver.exe, give your friends your IP. If they put the following onto the end of their Freelancer shortcut, it should show up on their server list.

In that case, I would reccomend using a program like Hamachi.

you want ioncross server operator (here) so you can hack your monies and such. run FLserver atleast once before you load up IC so it creates a FLServer.cfg in My Documents/My Games/freelancer... blah blah blah. etc (you wont have a lot in there)
when you load it up, it'll ask you to find FLServer.cfg and FLServer.exe, then when it asks to take control of FLServer, cancel and jump into the Configuration > IFSO Settings tab and change "FLServer Window Name" to "FLServer - Version 4.85 Build 2 - FLServer"

you wont get any sweet FLhook tricks so once you give yourself a nomad turreted osiris, be prepared to switch back into ICFSO and swap yourself to another station, cause you dont have any /stuck command, i'm not sure what kinda wizardry you need to pull for that.

as far as networks go, you're best off with Alex's suggestion as there's plenty of guides for getting Hamatchi to work through routers/firewalls/space and time and such.

You might want to get FLHook and the player control plugin for /stuck aswell.

well i want listening last time you said it! i just use IC to fiddle with things loacaly.
