I'm not sure this would be a good idea. What motivation will the escort have knowing he will be paid automatically regardless of effort he makes?

Well, the idea Harcourt brought in has to be possible 'cause something like this is working (or was) at the Hamburg City Server.
Dunno if it's still active but you gained a percentage of the traders profit when the job was done. So there must be a way to get this done.

I would love to see it on Disco with the restrictions mentioned above. Lawfuls only can escort lawfuls, no payment for Navy/Police and so on.

If the trader dies the escort doesn't get paid, perhaps? I don't know if that's foolproof, but it gives the trader a failsafe of sorts.

program in every base name to the command, the trader has to list his intended destination /hireescort NAME DESTINATION (% or ammount). When the trader enters this, the ammount of the escort fee OR the % value of his cargos sell price at the specified destination are subtracted from his bank.

That said, that method would proabaly represent a LOT of work.

Trader doesn't have to die. If he is forced to drop cargo, escort failed.
I like the idea of making it easier for traders and escorts find each other but is the automatic paying system necessary? Is there really a problem with traders not paying escorts?

For the most part, no, however the auto-pay WOULD, within the confines of fletchers thread, make the most sense.

I think this will become very complicated if this is implemented. But I would love to have those /setescort and /pingescort
