So where does The Order get all of its money/resources? Certainly we don't skim from Corsairs. And I doubt the Zoners are willing to share the wealth. Our planets are either icy or dangerous to human life and we don't have a viable trade good (Artifacts on Isis are gone from the new version).

As far as I know they get a large amount of money and technology directly from the Liberty Government. Since it's a secret operation the Liberty Government will not admit it (even with the members of the LSF and the LNavy).

The order are fighting the Liberty forces Lump. The order factions are fighting the Liberty ones when they enter Alaska.
I very much doubt that they are helping each other.
I can bet that the order get their money from trade with the corsairs. They would trade things like supplies for artifacts from their fields. They could also get money from selling nomads to the SF on Cambridge research station.
Given their extensive technological advantages, my guess is they have a con-type thing going. Hacking in the Liberty Bank and transferring fat stacks of cash into their pockets? Sounds like a good idea to me...
Their a faction that provides themselfs, maybe they just discarded any form of payment?
Everyone in the order is well, order! So it would only make sence if every officer/pilot did his thing to keep the faction going.
If you look at say liberty, liberty NEEDS money. Since not every human in liberty works for the navy/police. Everyone in Order space does workve for the Order. Unless your a nomad!
I'll second Exile on that one. Remember, folks, everybody in the Order is part of a highly organized military wholly devoted to fighting for a cause (IE smearing the Nomads), and hence they live in very spartan conditions. The Order doesn't need a particularly large budget.

Ok got the internal economy thing. What about resources? Don't see much of gases for H-Fuel and they would need money to purchase that. I was thinking maybe that since big government like Liberty has corruption and a few insiders could wire money for resources which cover fuel. Enough to build capships though? Would need a mining operation for that. I mean The Order is just plain free labor but parts have to come from somewhere
i m certain that they do have sources for cash. zoners do provide them with deuterium from like gran canaria - but not for free ( and that even roleplaywise ) ... the order pays for stuff.
there is a theroy that is not reflected in the disc mod. ... in singleplayer they had a good relationship to allmost every faction. pirates, terrorists, and basicly - lawfuls as long as those were not infested by nomads.
with that as a basis - it appears also sure that the order has their "eyes and ears" everywhere throughout sirius. people that support them with information and possibly trade for them, too. the order "tagged" NPCs are just the fighting order ppl. the staff sort of. but as far as i see it - there are a LOT more people affiliated to the order, pleople that know about the nomads or want to know more about them, that know the danger. there are people that finance them that would not publicly say that they do so.
some might be zoners for sure, cause they are directly affected. but i d say most of the private sources are liberty, kusari etc businessmen. they might work for interspace or whatever other cooperation, but will "donate" to the order every now and then.
saying that one is assisting the order is not profitable though - seeing that the LSF and the navy have a problem with it. - bit like artifacts. liberty says its bad ( kusari disagrees to a certain extend ) - but still - artifacts are banned everywhere officially.
all in all it means - don t mess with those that dislike the order in public - but assist them as much as you can when no one is watching you.
I must go back to my previous point. The fact that apparently the order and liberty fight each other does not mean that they are not connected, I think is very reasonable to think they are, especially with the Liberty Intelligence. It's very common for intelligence agencies to have connection with organizzation that are depicted on the media as anti-goverment or even terroristic.
Look at the Osiris: it is quite obvious that the Osiris is an improved version of a Liberty Ship: thus they must have access to Liberty's secret reserach projects. Also the Order fighters look very similar to Liberty fighters... could it be just chance if every Order's ship look like an improved version of a Liberty ship?
Moreover it is quite obvious that the activities of the Order against the Nomads protect Liberty from a massive Nomad invasion. Why should the Order patrol Alaaka system if they do not care about protecting liberty from the Nomads?
Thus my opionion is that The Order is almost a Liberty secret Agency, but it is the kind of Agency that the Liberty Government will never admit to know on the media. The Order does the dirty job on behalf of the Liberty Government; the Liberty Government likes it but it cannot admit to have any kind of relation with the Order. In fact the order does covered activities also in the Kusari and in teh Rheinland territory. If a connection between the Order and Liberty would be revealed to the public, probably it would cause war between Liberty and Kusary or Rheinland.
Last point... the money, an Organizzation like the Order requires a huge amount of money and they do not pirate. Then the only reasonable explanation is that the Order is feeded by a powerful Government... the Liberty Government. Probaly only few members of the Liberty Governement and inside the top ranks of the Order know it.

The Osiris was an experimental Liberty ship that the Order stole & obviously never gave back after Trent had saved the day. Not only does that make them thieves, but it also makes them saboteurs as Liberty haven't been able to re-create the ship.
They also work with Hogosha (spit) & Corsair. Sounds more & more like a criminal outfit to me, who have disguised itself as a moral guardian of Sirius to blinker the unquestioning
