I play on the Discovery US Server, not the main server which usually has about 180 people on it at once. Why? First of all, I joined that particular server because my dad plays on it, and second, I've played on the Crossfire server in the past, and didn't enjoy trying to fight other players with a ping that was well over 100 (my ping for the official discovery server is about ~160, and my ping on the Crossfire server was usually ~180 at best). My ping for the server I'm on now is only about ~50 at best, which I find very suitable for dog fighting. The only problem is that there is usually almost nobody on the server (maybe 30 people on a busy day) and therefore there is almost no RP. I've only seen a total of 12 other players on my screen since I started playing there, and I was only hailed and engaged in RP once.
Since RP is very rare on this server, pretty much the only thing left to do is buy a good ship and beat up on the poor little NPCs with their Daggers and Falcons and what have you. It's either that, or mine, or trade. However, I decided that it would be more fun if I bought a capital ship from one guard faction, and went to an opposing house and beat up on the NPCs over there. Yes, I know this isn't really good for RP, but as I said, RP on this server between me and other players is beyond rare. And this is where my question comes in to play.
My vessel of choice would be either a Kusari Dreadnought or a Kusari Battleship, because they just look so sexy. However, I didn't realize until last night that I'm hostile with the Kusari Naval Forces Guard. I was flying the Rhineland SHF when I jumped into Hiroshima, only to be attacked on sight. That ship with it's 250 bots and batts is the only reason that I survived the trip into the hostile territory (that and I was out of range of the Battleship stationed near the jump hole). This saddened me, because I knew that it would take quite a bit of work to become friendly with this particular faction. I haven't explored the other guard systems yet, but because I'm friendly with pretty much all of the houses (except for Bretonia, which I haven't visited yet) I doubt I'll be friendly to any of the naval guard factions anywhere.
So my question is this: what is the best and or fastest way to improve my reputation with the naval guard factions of the different houses? Or can I only do this with one house? Also, are the turning rates the same for all of the house battleships, or are they different?
I have another question. If the Guard and Non-Guard factions of the same house have the same enemies and allies, how can I be hostile with one and friendly with the other? I'm still hostile with the Kusari Naval Forces Guard, but I just bought a Kusari Naval Forces ID for my character. How does this make sense?
I'm neutral with BMM and the Farmers Alliance and I don't suppose that helps, but I don't know who else to shoot at besides the Bretonian Military, which would be suicide unless I had the appropriate ship. So what should I do here to become friendly with the Kusari Naval Forces Guard? Because I have no idea what to do anymore.
Also, I'm hostile with the Bretonian Police, and I haven't even entered Bretonian space on any of my characters yet. I'm also hostile with the Liberty Naval Forces Guard and the Rhineland Guard or Millitary, I can't remember which.
If you have a Kusari Naval Forces ID, Bretonia is indeed hostile because the two sides are at war. To build up your guard rep for any faction, you must do missions for that faction for example: To get Kusari Naval Forces Guard rep, keep doing Kusari Navy missions.
Alright, so it's just a matter of running a lot of missions then. That's more simple than I thought, though I imagine it will take many long nights and much orange juice (my drink of choice when Freelancing).
Guard Factions are mostly there for Guard Systems and Capital Ship access.
You can't buy a Cap Ship with Normal ID, so you'll have to get full friendly with Guard Faction, Buy the Guard ID and then the Capital ship.
Also, Both Guard and Non-Guard Factions represent the same faction. So, their diplomacy is just the same, but its You who are Hostile to Guard Factions. This is intended so no one other than members of same faction or really close allies, gain access to High-End equipment of that Faction.
Now, On how to get friendly with any faction's Guard, you have 2 choices: (As mentioned above)
Multi-Bribes: Bribes and in some cases Double/Triple Bribes effect Guard Rep as well.
Missions: Missions from Normal faction effect the Guard faction between 1/2 or 1/3 block.
Although Bribes are faster, but for Military Factions, Missions are the only choice (Because Military Factions are not Bribe-able). But you'll notice that there are no Guard Missions, which means you'll have to do Missions for the Non-Guard Faction, and this will slowly increase your rep with Guard faction as well. (And for Guard Factions, You'll need between 20 to 30 missions to get full friendly with the Guard, depending on the faction itself)
Also, as a Side note:
- Kusari has only One Battleship and no Dreadnought. You might be Confusing it with Kusari Destroyer, which is a Cruiser and not a Battleship.
- Each Battleship ingame has its own Turn-Rate and Agility, just like any other ship ingame, you can try them out in Single Player to see it for yourself.
- Believe it or not, 100ms ping is not really high! My Average Ping on server is 200ms... and guess what? I enjoy fighting others even with this ping. What gets annoying is Lag and Loss, no matter if your ping is 10 or 1000. (There are even those who play with Dialup on this server, and don't have Much problem)
- Each ID, adjusts your Rep to reflect the general Stance of that faction toward others when you mount it. So you can't get even neutral with BAF if you have KNF ID mounted, or any other faction that has to be Hostile to you.
P.S: Ouch, Seems I got Multi-Ninjad while typing...

Thanks for the extra information, you all have been a great help. Also, I tried the IonCross Freelancer Character editor for that specific purpose, but it game me an error when I tried to use it with a new save game that I had made to try out the new ships and everything. I bet there's an answer to that somewhere here on the forums, so I'll research that next either through the XFire browser or before I log back onto the server.
