FL installed no problems for me on Windows Vista 64bit...... Comp fail?
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.

So, I know I can buy it online at Walmart, RadioShack, and probably Target but they don't offer the ability to download it now and I am an American. I need instant satisfaction.
Anyone know any websites where I can buy the game and download it? Or must I simple wait for it to ship? :P
I bought FL 4 months ago, but I've been playing it for 4 years. I have a checking account that's only 5 months old... I've been using bittorrent for 4 years.....hrmm....

Should work fine, only thing you might want to note is that Freelancer and all related programs should run with UAC elevated priviledges - just run it as an admin by right clicking on it and selecting 'Run as administrator'.
Installed in on Win7 64bit. Vista 64bit. WinXP 32bit.
No problems on any install from a program standpoint. Though my Win7 has stability problems which I haven't been able to pin down yet. So I spend most of my time on WinXP.

Erm, I've done this several times on vista with no issues whatsoever. And I installed it on my win7 without a problem too. I don't understand what the issue is with this really, but maybe it's just that I don't use User Account Control.
I thought about that and checked the CPU. It is suppose to support 64-bit. The only thing I've been able to think of is that maybe the fact my mobo spits out an error saying it doesn't recognize my proc might actually be a problem now that I am using a 64-bit OS. With XP 32-bit I could just hit F1 and boot into XP and never had any problems.
Not sure about how this is done in the US but here you're allowed to make a copy of any legally owned software.
If this is the same in the US you can basically legally download it even if its from a torrent site or what not.
I for one only opened my Freelancer box once like I do with all games I buy I just get a copy off the net and use that. That way you don't have to worry about damaging your original cds and load times go up by a lot as your harddisk is much faster.
@ the 64 bit thing.
Installing FL on windows 7 64 bit should be no problem at all. I installed it both on my pc and mediacenter and they are both 64bit running windows 7. Just make sure you run it as Administrator and it should be good. Make sure you install the game in a different folder then program files Vista and Win7 have much stricter file settings in those folders and can cause all sort of issues.
