Okay, I had a spontaneous idea for a character the other day. I just posted his background... This is my first real try at a really big story, and I'd like opinions, critiques, etc. I sat down and wrote it all at once, starting at about 1AM.
Also, I'd like ideas for ship/tag/ID/etc. If you read my entire story (it's long, yes), then you'll see that it seems like his ship is a Liberty Cruiser. I wanted a cruiser or destroyer-class ship, and the Liberty seemed most feasible with his RP. But I've never flown anything bigger than a gunboat (not overly fond of them, but I'd like to give one a shot).
Tag and ID is slightly more difficult. I'm thinking he may have defected to the Lane Hackers, as they would understand and welcome his knowledge and technical ability. If so, I'll probably give him a Hacker ID as well. I'm thinking that he may not be particularly close or loyal to the Hackers, and eventually (if the Admins deem me worthy after seeing the character played for a decent while), I might wish to switch to a generic Terrorist ID.
Any thoughts, ideas, criticisms, flames, stonings?
Primarily the Liberty government. They're the only ones he has an actual vendetta against. He still considers himself a scientist and engineer. And a visionary. Much of the unneeded crew quarters on his cruiser will have been reconstructed into slave cells, so he can continue his various experiments. The nomads are also of interest to him, especially their ability to control human hosts and communicate telepathically.
He'll probably carry several commodities on his ship at all times, including slaves, nomads and nomad brains, artifacts, etc.

Very nice story there Drake, like it a lot. I'm seeing this guy as a major headache for the Liberty Government and maybe a good ally for the rogues, outcasts and hackers.
I can just see fleets of neurally augmented pilot/ships tearing up Liberty.
I see him being an ally of the Rogues and Hackers, but not a good ally of them. I reckon he'd annoy them to high-hell with his insanity and general rudeness.
My character's (Zapp) RP is kind of similar, inasmuch as he's an extremely gifted person, though minus the implants, and is working on a project that may be of interest to your character. We may have some common ground. Of course, I can't tell you what it is, but it has potential.
