I'm getting an old laptop... 400Mhz Pentium II, 128MB of RAM (though I might have some extra I can add), no idea on the graphics card (probably no 3D graphics card, but maybe I'll get lucky). Any idea if it'll be possible for me to get Freelancer/Discovery working on it, even if it's with crappy graphics? I know the system requirements for FL is 600Mhz, but it's also sometimes possible to get games working on lower-end computers...
I don't believe it will work. Remind the recommendations are set on the lowest settings you can make in the game. Even your CPU and RAM are able to manage it, whats about the videocard. For Freelancer you will need Direct X 8.1. Will your videocard support it?
Yeah, I don't really expect it to work... And I have no idea what kind of video card it has. I'm getting it free, so I'm not all that picky, but I was kinda hoping I might be able to get Discovery to run on it.
But with a 400MHz processor you would be lucky to get DirectX 8.1 one to work...Even if your video card supports it, the odds are your computer will struggle.
My computer has duel core everything, and it still chokes here and there...
Cheers

I think i first played Freelancer on my PII 350Mhz system with my Voodoo 2 card all them years ago.....but i could be wrong & i may have played it first on my PIII system with a low end Nvidia card.Freelancer is quite an old game so just give it a try it will be a 50% chance that it will work imo.
