Greetings,
I am sending this message in my official capacity as the appointed director of research and development for the Independant Miner's Guild. As my predecessor was not one for recordkeeping, I do not have contact for the house governments that we have only a light presence in. A situation I would like to remedy.
Furthermore, I would like to discuss two things:
First, Liberty's influence in Pennsylvania.
I have been trying to contact the governor of the system without much luck so far. The reason for this is that I would like to scout and prospect the remote planet Hallam for the possible establishment of a mining colony there. As rumor has it, Deep Space Engineering did it's own survey and found significant resources, but deemed the cost of developing this world too high. The Independant Miner Guild has some experience in developing mining sites in hostile enviorments (if you do not believe us in this, feel free to visit Java, to observe just how hostile our enviorments get).
However, we do not wish to become squatters, or upset either Liberty or the Zoners in Pennsylvania. So we would like to know if Liberty would take issue to us attempting to exploit the resources on this world. If it proved feasable, it would carry economic benefits, to both the Pennsylvania local system, and Liberty as a whole: The workforce could easily be recruited from the Colorado system, as I understand it, unemployment rates are significant there, and many folk have experience in mining, although perhaps not in harsh conditions. Supplies for such a colony in terms of food, water and oxygen could easily be obtained from Eerie, thus boosting the local economy. Furthermore, if the mining colony proves feasable, we would likely commission Deep Space Engineering to construct the docking ring. It makes sense for us to use a company that has both the experience, and a long partnership with our Guild, for this.
But all of this is undetermined: We don't even know what is down there yet. I need to know whom to contact to secure permission to take a detailed survey.
Second, Liberty's plans in the Kansas system.
We have done a brief survey of this system ourselves and found traces that Liberty explorers had been on the water world before us. The planet itself holds little interest to us miners - the few landmasses seem unsuitable for mining. But the remaining moons and the gas giant might be worth surveying. Our initial survey did not find any hint of Liberty having surveyed the moons for mineral resources.
Please let me know whom to contact in regards to these.
Kind regards,
- Johnathan Sanders, Director of Research and Development, Independant Miners Guild
