My name is Kerc Kasha, I do not bear a title for I am unworthy of such things, however I feel my word should be treated as valuable as anyone else's in this matter, that is why I write this open letter to the Corsair community, not as a demand, not as an order, but a request. I'm a man that prefers to speak his mind with blunt honesty rather then twist words, so that is what I shall do; I shall speak honestly.
Our people, the Gas Miners Guild and the Corsairs(as well as its Sub-groups) have been in a state what would reflect war in a sort, it is in our opinion that this has benefited neither of us. The reason I have come to such a conclusion is this: I myself have visited Crete, I have seen what is happening first hand, with starvation a regular thing, with the oppression of it's people by the many governments in the galaxy, and yet still no aid has been sent. Not from Rheinland, not from Liberty, not from Bretonia, not even from the Kusari. No aid has been sent to the Corsair people on Crete and such actions make me sick in the stomach. I cannot and will not allow this any further.
Fuel, particularly H-Fuel is a valuable resource for everyone in the galaxy, not only does it power ships but it can also provide water when it's elements are successfully split, such a thing would be valuable on a hostile planet such as Crete. This is why I offer to the Corsair people our hand in friendship, to assist them in this matter, not just for H-Fuel, but for desperately needed supplies aswell.
We already supply H-Fuel to "four houses" of the galaxy, but we feel that someone has been left out on this. We have indiscriminately traded to everyone for years yet one group of people, who deserve our business a lot more then most do, have been left out. We feel that this shouldn't continue any further, the Corsairs should be treated equally to that of the House's. They are their own nation and they've been mistreated by everyone else, we do not want to be part of this group of mistreatment.
I, Kerc Kasha, ambassador for [LLJK], a subsidy of the Gas Miners Guild wish to propose peace to the Corsair people in the name of allowing negotiations with its Leaders to create a pact of friendship and brotherhood. If such a thing can come to pass, it is the promise of the GMG that a large shipment of H-Fuel, Food, Water, and other basic needs will be sent to Crete directly with no cost to the Corsair people, this will come directly out of our pockets.
Thank you for reading this message, I hope peace can be found between our people.
Juan Montoya reads the message over and over and thinks...
What are the GMG playing at here? Artifact supply was cut a few months ago in favour of the Hogosha, and they want peace? Is the situation with the Outcasts really that bad? Or is it more...?
Before composing a response, Juan looks at the news on his holo projector screen. He searches through the recent news articles and finds what he was looking for. A recording with the title "Rheinland ousts GMG subsidiaries from its space". He opens the recording, and waits for it to buffer.
As it plays, Juan sits back on his armchair.
The Rheinlanders get most of their fuel from the GMG... how could they reject their presence? But then, there is deuterium... but I doubt the Rheinlanders would be able to afford it. How can they run ships on the mere fumes of H-fuel. There wasn't even an impact on the economy the day this was announced. There must be something deeper...
Regardless of good intentions, a pact, or even a cease fire with the GMG wouldn't work. Most of the brothers and sisters of the Corsair continuum are overly impetuous, ready to shoot anything that moves out of line with extreme prejudice. They wouldn't even bother to read up on diplomacy if it changed. All they would see would be red on their Heads up Display. And all the target would see would be lines of plasma hitting their shield.
With those thoughts in mind, Juan opened up the reply screen and started to compose a message back to this particular subsidiary of the GMG.
Begin Transmission...
To: Kerc Kasha, Ambassador of the LLJK and GMG subsidiary.
From: Elder Juan Montoya.
I'll get straight to the point, as you seem to be an understanding person.
Our two sides can never have peace. You are inexorably tied to the four houses as much as we are tied to our way of life. I will explain this now.
If we were to accept your peace, or even just a mere cease fire, this would be a direct blow to the solidarity of my brothers. The Brotherhood is, in many ways, the shining light to those who wish to be a good Corsair. What kind of example are we setting if we accept peace from the GMG?
Of course, I am also suspicous of your offer, which seems to not even contemplate our Artifacts trade. The GMG lost out to the Hogosha not so long ago in the bidding for exclusive artifacts rights, simply because the GMG were not willing to provide two things.
1. Sanctuary for Corsair smugglers in the sigmas and Kusari space.
2. Military help against the Blood Dragons, Golden Chrysanthemums and Outcasts.
Both of these are provided by the Hogosha, but neither of these were offered by the GMG when the time for bidding came.
So we cannot accept your offer of peace. Despite our shortages of basic materials, we do get by.
It is also in our blood, crafted by centuries of starvation and malnutrition, that our people have grown to love to earn their meals. We work hard to keep our minds off our stomachs. Those who can't craft ships fight until their last breath to earn their keep, in more ways than one. We cannot accept your offer of peace.
I appreciate the quick answer, even though it wasn't what I would of liked. I think you might be just confused on the point of my previous message. My previous message wasn't an offer of peace, rather the offer to begin negotiations towards peace, and while I have nothing to hide in the such I prefer that both our enemies were not aware of what was being said in these negotiations by using more encrypted channels. This is simply because the situation for the both of us is delicate and the actual offer could be damaging to the both of us.
We are not tied to anything, like I mentioned GMG serves no one but themselves, Rheinland tried to push their influence on us and it was pretty clear how that ended up.
While I agree the previous administration did make some rather large mistakes towards the Corsairs, we are hoping that past mistakes can be forgiven for the sake of progress of peace.
I must agree with you, this offer may seem suspicious as it was indeed quite out of the blue, but I assure you if you there is nothing to it, we wish to trade with the Corsair people and I'm sure the Corsair's would want sanctuary in our space, which we will indeed provide. But once again, details cannot be sent on a public channel such as this for the sake of both our people.
