And it seems that lag is the evildoer here. I'll try increasing the delay between the 2 attacks. Although that makes suckerpunching lazy chasers very, very hard.

That would also alter balance a lot, we can as well just get rid of shields all together and increase hit points of ships. Not to mention that raising shield to absorb damage from heavy weapons is a valid tactic.

I've had this with SNACs on caps, I've clearly hit them, but nothing registered. And again, I once saw someone SNAC a deshielded fighter, but they claim they missed, and the fighter is fine.
I think it is server lagg. I have seen it in reverse to. I see SNAC coming,i dodge,it fly's past me,and 2 seconds later ship explodes. Only lagg can explain this,or Egiss is watching,and likes to mess with us. "looks behind chair"
Don't get so greedy with it and learn how long your delay is. Half the time I don't bother double tapping because of the delay, it's easier to shoot them in the backside as they evade waiting for their shields to regen. My delay is generally longer than the time I have a fighter in view for due to my distance from the server, I can only insta-kill someone from a long distance.
