something to think about it - for those that focus only on the capital ships without having other ships in mind, too:
** the equipment-dealer can only be accessed when the station is able to cater your shipclass in general **
- lets say ... capital ships can only dock at shipyards anymore
- then we are fair and let bombers only dock at stations selling nova ammo ( and fuel, cause they re still fighters )
- fighters can only dock at stations selling fuel ( after all, they are short range ships )
- transports can only dock with "heavy lifters" near the planet ( HL acting as a base ) - and the HL pays less for the goods, cause it charges a fee for its service - so in order to get the full price, you better use a freighter!
- well, and since the barge cannot dock with a planet and is too large for any shipyard .... tough luck, no docking for the barge at all in sirius.
logic can be applied in many ways - and you MUST weigh up - how much fun is it? ( and not only for YOU, but also for the players who happen to fly the ships you wish to nerf )

Im sure a LSC could go through the atmosphere. Its not some little Executioner, is it?
Theres a reason I leave my ossie in Toledo. RP wise, makes more sense its floating below Toledos atmosphere.
Sorry, but this would be ok for Liberty (norfolk/baltimore) but Order? Only Evora.
And look at the Guild Core.
*drops two cents*
The GC have one shipyard. And I dont think its very near where BHGC uses most of thier cap fleet.
[color=#FFFFFF]Well maybe if a faction has only one shipyard it shouldn't have as much capital ships as let's say the Gallic Navy...*looks to Valetta*...right...But anyway this was just an idea one that I believe that it cannot be implemented in the game let alone be utilised successfully. That's why I said discuss, I am interested on what people think and how many of actually like the idea of a realism based changes as a whole
Yea, you know. My main concern with doking is not the valid location for said class of ships but rather how can ships can disapear instalty by docking on station. I wish docking would actually take some time ( and even be impossble while in fight for bigger ships) , and also make the ships vulnerable.
Docking point are important in their utilities, they are the way to enter and exit the in-game role play. You don't want to force large ship to have to make a longer trip for capital vessel. Thus I udnertand the concept, I don"t hate it, but it doesnt make the game more fun for those who fly them.
-> basicly, dock permitted anywhere, with at least neutral ( and RP permitted) , add varied pending dock time for all vessel, impossible docking for larger ship while been shooted at. Smaller ship like fighter will take a huge risk trying to dock'.
' Wrote:I think it's not a good idea, because space stations in Freelancer are much smaller than they are supposed to be. 170 people don't fit in most of them in their actual size. What I mean is that BSes are supposed to be able to dock on these bases, even if with FL scale that seems dumb.
I want to mention that I didn't read the other replies, so it's just my opinion.
I agree with the above opinion, Barge for example has the size of a small moon which of course in-RP it is not possible, many things in Freelancer don't have the size they should have had, but that should not make us restrict their docking rights in small installations. Just pretend that the stations are large enough and you are done;)
