' Wrote:Both. I would like to get people enjoying playing in Kusari, including traders, while still remaining true to the rp of Kusari and of Jien Kogen.

The biggest problem Kusari in backing down on any matter - or even compromising - is loss of face. I put it the community that any RP/OORP solutions wont be accepted by Kusari players unless they have a way to save face in doing so. Anything less is a disgrace to their ancestors - and political suicide.

That being said - the difference between saving face or losing it can be as simple as how a decision is worded or implemented.

Dont go too far too fast in applying sanctions or the term 'disproportionate response' applies (and encourages an excessive response in kind).

Instead of a full embargo or 'invasion' of neighbours - why not choose to apply an import tax on ships coming from those places (effectively a fine - but failing to pay it = tax avoidance). Implement measures by degree - and remove them by degree.

The best part about removing sanctions by degree is that it doesnt look like a backdown. In military speak it is the difference between a planned withdrawal and a humiliating retreat.

One could also start 'profiling' ships from the factions you want to sanction - subjecting them to more aggressive searches. Make them spill their cargo, then you can waste their time looking through it - and have them take it back and move on. In doing this you are effectively applying a 'time penalty' to traders - as profit x time = true income from trading.

If 'spies' like the LSF are caught red-handed in Kusari space - dont treat it as an act of war. Laugh at their incompetence - literally LAUGH at it! To be caught out like that represents a loss of face for Liberty - and Kusari can toy with that, as opposed to getting angry (again leading to a disproportionate response). This is especially true if no real harm came from the spies actions.

So, there are a couple of ideas. Kusari may be strong and decisive in its leadership - but there is also another Kusari trait that perhaps needs to be explored more.

Subtlety.

Kusari is really messed up. Going from NT to Tau-23 i once ran across GC/BD/Hogosha/Bretonia navy/bret special forces/outcasts. All in 1 trip, and all robbing traders, and demanding all cargo dropped. Lawful's are near extinct, and get ganked. It gets annoying,so people stay away. Also if you even check distances? Kusari systems are bigger in general than most others,so take longer to get through if not using TL's. Time is money for traders.
Some also call it "pretty" but i find it kind of boring. All systems look pretty much the same. I am hoping something changes in 4.86

Go read Hirohito's radio speech - the word "surrender" isn't even mentioned.

You gotta admire how truly people follow the Japanese mindset...

There was a complaint because your signature violated forum rule 1. Specifically:

What's surrender?

@Friday: If KNF are xenophobic about everything, how would they just laught at the LSF caught in their space during that important meeting? At that point, we were very harsh with disrespectful traders, and ever harsher with disrespectful military officers.

That KNF/KSP/KPT/Hososha/FA/Samura are played in a xenophobic way is not a factor in why people don't play in kusari as much as you would like. I've heard that excuse for quite some time, but believe me, even if we were the sweetest guys to every trader and their mothers, people wouldn't be playing in kusari as much as you would like. It ain't liberty, and will never be. Better thing to do is accept it, and keep playing, eventually, you will find out that there are more people than you knew playing in kusari.

None of the other 4 houses will be as Liberty is... trying to spread people out of liberty is the hardest thing you can ever do. The server is too used to that, you know that if you log in liberty, you will get whatever you want, because there are the majority of pirates, the majority of lawfuls, the majority of traders.

Even if Narita would be buying Ore again, it's not a linear function, more traders =/= more activity, or quality of performance. For sure, more traders = more complaints on a linear function. Instead of creating new opportunities to play, it would create more whining "There are too many pirates", "lawfuls are worst than pirates", "no one stop hogosha", "knf needs more activity", etc.

Of course, there will be an increment of activity, by force it happens, there will be more pirates, but, at least from my view, dublin wasn't a great place. You got to ask yourself, is blanty piracy/trading/shooting bad guys what Kusari needs? You have Liberty for that already, I prefered Kusari for something different.
