Is it really that hard to find escorts?

There has been a rather traditional argument that traders fail in fights and rage, because thy don't hire escorts.

I counter with this, whenever I offer the services of my Griffin (a super ship!) as an escort, you know what I get? A blank. 90% of the time I get no response to my offer of an escort. Traders can't be bothered to deal with escorts most of the time, and those that do bother are too cheap to hire them!

I'm not ranting against all traders though, I've had a great time with the ships I have escorted, and made a nice profit too.

Escorts can be hard to find because you traders don't hire us or bother to RP with us. That is appalling in my eyes.

Traders, stop raging that you fail in battles, hire a damned escort! We are meant to help you MAKE money, not LOSE money.

So folks, is it really that hard to find escorts in this climate?

I blame the pirates for being cheaper when it comes to protection.

Anybody tried to offer a free escort? Does it go differently?

Normally when I trade, there's only about 40-65 people on the server, so finding an escort could potentially be challenging, yes. However, since there's not that many people on the server, that's less chances for piracy as well. So long as I pay attention to the current player list, I can make it through a system without being pirated no sweat. As such, there's not much need for an escort. On the rare occasion that I do become the target of piracy (Normally it's at the only jump gate to the next system over), I simply meet their demands and go about my business. No way in hell does my Crane stand a chance against all but the most lack-luster of pirates. Hence, I don't argue with 'em.

Would I enjoy an escort/scout? Certainly. I just never happen to bump into them when I'm trading - simply because the only time I trade is when the server load is low.

I blame the pirates for being sissies! Being pirated I always cheaper than paying an escort. If pirates made some real demands, I'm pretty positive this would change.

What he said. Make a pirate and go around asking for half/all of their cargo/cargo value at sell point. That will teach those greedy traders to get some escorts

when i tried to play trans escort, everyone said no u, even if they did other wise, i got like 2 mil per run or even less... i guess pirates would pay more for me if i'd lure traders for them.
