You forgot the old catgirl admirals and my Keyblades.
And that line under your links. I approve:)
Yeah, why not. Would actually make sense at times, ie Navy officer docks his,Guardian at Norfolk, launches his GBA from Houston. No miraculous teleporting.

Well, technically those AI aren't of human origin or of human understanding (they're the accidents of the Daam K'Vosh, who apparently crap out better technology than we mere mortals can comprehend). Anthro morphs aren't exactly canon technology, people generally just look uncomfortable and avert their eyes as if they're just crazy people.
It does come to issue though, that if this technology existed in a practical way (IE cheaper to lose a copy than an original pilot), we'd have no real concept of casualties on the battlefield of any house war (barring civilian, but NECESSARY LOSSES DAMNIT!)
Doesn't it cheapen the impact, though? A capital ship crewed by surrogates blowing up is less wrenching than a capital ship full of actual people disintegrating, and makes for less exciting stories.
The spice of space combat, of most sci-fi involving space flight in general, has always been that skin-of-your-teeth experience, the mere centimeters of metal and layers of shield protecting you from empty vacuum.
Yeah, the miracle escape pods are stupid. They do cheapen the effect of dying; but that's just putting an RP label on what are the gameplay mechanics. At least there is, theoretically, some risk involved, as opposed to what is, with the Surrogates idea, the equivalent of WoW with consequences, in that you take control of a surrogate (avatar) to fight other ships piloted by other surrogates (avatars) with the only things being lost are the ships, goods, bragging rights, and tactical advantage in the inRP wars.
If we're going to be handwaving stupid, yet necessary, ooRP game mechanics with inRP explanations, I prefer the miraculous escape pod to the surrogates, because I'd rather escape with moments to spare, maybe injuring myself on the way, maybe not escaping -my character knows not- than end up waking up in my room with the momentary shock of a lost surrogate and a lost ship, before grabbing a hand-full of Space Cheetos and sending another surrogate out later. I can do the latter in real life by playing this game to begin with.:P

I like this idea, it has always been something that bugged me. If I'm your sworn enemy why wouldn't I just shoot your escape pod? why let you float to the nearest station when I can just shoot your pod/tractor you in and make you slave.
Discordianism: the Schroedinger's Cat of religions.
If you want to pursue it further Fletcher, one could say that some people might even worship Trans-humanism by now.
Most people would rather their own bodies I suspect. That being said where is the line between medical intervention and Transhumanism?
Trans-human cults would I feel form part of the Sirius sub-culture and underworld. Could be some very interesting RP dealing with Robotic Components and Human Organs...
