Anyway, I know that there are few people that RP foreigners in other houses.
Just bounty yourself. All cool kids are doing it.

Japanese suffixes-

-san = Mr/Ms/Mrs/Company name/Mountain (normal address)
-sama = Mr/Ms/Mrs (to a superior, or when referring to a god)
-dono = Sir/Madam (Historically to Lords)
-chan = Mr/Ms/Mrs (informal, generally to family member or someone held in high affection)
-kun = Mr/Miss (generally to someone younger, most often boys)
-baka = idiot (fairly self-explanatory)

You may also see people use terms like -chojo, these are rank indicators and replace -san and the others in a military hierarchy. Civilians would not be expected to use them, unless they know the rank or person.

Out of all the vanilla houses root nations (America, Britain, Japan and Germany), I have the least respect for America. Britain, Japan and Germany all have illustrious histories, rich in culture, technological prowess, and that old measure of superiority, conquest. America, on the other hand, is simply part of the history of major European nations. Yet my favoured house by the amount of play-time and commitment is Liberty. The French also have a rich history, but (at least the perception is that) it is more superfluous than their other European counterparts. They also tend not to stay the course in conflicts that have the potential to have a profound affect on the world order...

I believe that many feel slightly uneasy in roleplaying in Kusari, simply for the fact that it is the only Eastern culture recognised by the game, or even the mod. Sure, I've seen a few Chinese characters here and there in the SCRA particularly, but Eastern culture is almost like alien culture if you look beyond the surface. You either have the confidence and knowledge to go there, learn and play, or not, and stick to the other regions. Further to what Akura said, it would take Kusari being conquered to adapt to a new language and new culture, much like Japan has done after being defeated by America. Without such a defeat, the culture never would have changed, but even now, it is its own distinct country with its own distinct tastes. Anime, work ethic, society and public service provision are all examples of Japanese (and perhaps Asian in general) cultural contrast with the West.

Of course our individual knowledge has an affect on the choices that we make. That's not a bad thing, but if you want to go out of your comfort zone without being shouted at for getting it totally wrong, it requires a bit of study. For a game, that's a big ask.

If abandoning our home planet and out solar system isn't a sign of a major defeat, then I'm not sure what would be. Just going to throw that out there.

Just to be clear, I have never watched anime, nor do I have much of a background in Japanese history, my area of expertise in history is American history and Modern Middle Eastern history. Most of the historical knowledge I have of Japan I have learned in reference to this game.

Take that for what it's worth, probably not much.

And I suppose the houses were linked to each other from 0 A.S. were they? You know that your example is not even comparable; America has exerted its influece on to every conquest it's made. Where's the Coalition to do the same?

Leaders tend to lead in the same way, but the nature of the social interactions are different and the hidden meanings of language (because of culture rather than the actual language) are also different. Of course, then there are some who can do things without prior knowledge, which is a rare talent...

It's alright, the Blood Dragons will take over and we'll finally have a true Kusari Emperor!
