The new machine or whatever it considered itself, for it was coherent and retained organic matter, had a primary programming that stated: "Seek and gather characteristics of Humans. While on that path, all obstacles to the SMA should be eliminated."
Information, relayed to this Unit, was often outdated. Therefore Navigational Coordinates were incorrect, or worthless in some cases. It was an inconvenience that this Basic Unit had begun to understand. Therefore no longer accepted information the SMA offered. But was unable to alter its course in which the SMA set it. So it puttered through space, grievously fighting a battle within itself, attempting to eliminate its prime directive.
After several months of re-assembling its cartographic charts, the Unit was able to find a small encryption stream within its enigmatic Processing Core.
