here will always be those people in a society that aren't born with a silver spoon in their mouths and caviar on their plates. This is the case for many in Sirius, and the people inhabiting Sherwood Station were no exception. Although life was hard, it was bearable with the knowledge that the citizens of Sherwood had ownership rights to their own homes, unlike many of the other inhabitants of orbital stations. Instead of paying rent and other jacked-up fees for their dirty, grubby existence like in other stations, the people of Sherwood could make a better life for themselves ' it was a community of friends, with everyone being a genuinely friendly person.
It all changed when a mega corporation tried to buy Sherwood Station to turn it into a factory. The proprietors kindly told the company that they would rather keep the rights to their homes and that they weren't very interested in the prospects of selling the complex. Furious that the so-called peasants of the station would refuse their offer, the company decided to employ a bounty hunter to remove the Sherwood owners' doubts. Using a freighter, the bounty hunter jettisoned thousands of tons of toxic waste into the area around Sherwood Station, clogging the ventilation systems and causing massive health problems for the entire population. When the owners went back to the company's executives asking to sell, the executives agreed ' but at half the price, due to the toxic waste problems the station was having.
The citizens of Sherwood Station left in convoy, sad to see their home of decades now belonged to someone else. The company's ships were already moving in, ripping out sides of the station to put in the manufacturing arrays. The convoy, in search of another home, stopped for refueling. In the base's tavern, several former Sherwood Station security guards sat down for a drink at the bar. There was a bounty hunter spending lots of credits, buying drinks for everyone and trying to convince the women to accompany him to his room, bragging about his latest endeavor ' sabotaging a station with toxic waste. When the Shewood guards heard this, they became filled with rage. They sprinted back to the convoy to tell the others what they had heard. They formed a pact to fight the corporations whenever they could, smuggling cargo through the lanes and selling to anyone who would buy. They would undercut and steal from the corporations and use the goods they could acquire to beat them into the ground. They heard of a group of pirates that shared their ideals ' the Gentlemen Raiders. To them, anyone was a target, but especially the corporate transports and freighters running goods from planet to planet. If the Sherwoodites encountered civilians, military, or other lawful pilots during their raids, they agreed to take great care to return them to a lawful base or planet in order to protect them, in accordance with the Gentlemen Raider's Code. The Sherwoodites received a percentage of anything the Gentlemen could loot or ransom, in return for the use of their cargoholds.
Thus, the Sherwood Initiative was formed, and they are still active in the trade lanes today. They can be seen paired with wings of Gentlemen Raiders, selling the space in their cargoholds for what the Raiders procure ' hitting the mega corporations where it hurts the most.

The Gentlemen
There are millionaires in Sirius who are not content to sit idly by and spend their money on the finest of Gallian wines, lying on the decks of their pleasure yachts watching the stars glisten in the sky. Indeed there is an exclusive club of the rich and well-to-do who enjoy nothing more than a good space chase with their evening hors d'oeurves, a hostage situation before their nightcap. They are the Gentlemen Raiders, the terror of the middle class and corporate big-wigs. Only the most daring and bold are allowed to join the Raiders ' only the truly courageous and ethical will be admitted. The Gentlemen Raiders will rob a transport in broad daylight under the very nose of a Navy patrol vessel, or hold an entire planet for ransom. The Gentlemen Raiders do not need cruisers and battleships ' mounting a few guns on their yachts will suffice. While some pirates would rather destroy their victims, the Gentleman Raiders despise bloodshed and would much rather their targets pay them a small fee to pass by unharmed. If people refuse to be reasonable, however, the Raiders will not hesitate to use deadly force. A true Gentleman operates on the premise that he doesn't need to be holding four aces ' it only matters that you think he does.
Even though their passion is pirating, they are courteous and polite to all, even their targets. There is a strict rule of ethics that must never be broken ' The Gentleman Raider's Code . These pillars of authority are the basis for everything the Raiders do, for if a gentleman is to engage in such behavior, he must do it with class and dignity, and preserving the dignity of the enemy even while showing that he has been beaten. The Raiders believe that pirating is an art form and a sport more than a crime, and for this reason they do not target the poor of society. Instead, they have taken in those who have been wrongly attacked at the hand of corporate greed, employing the smugglers of the Sherwood Initiative as cargo runners and black-market merchants.
The two groups are now inseparable, having found each other good company for the long haul ' the Sherwood Initiative runs cargo that the Gentlemen Raiders loot.
The Gentleman's Code
1.Blood on your hands is never as good as credits in your pocket.
2.No one enjoys being robbed, be as polite and courteous as possible.
3.We are neither slavers nor human traffickers ' if civilians or other lawful pilots are taken hostage, they must be returned to a lawful base at first convenience.
4.You don't need to be holding four aces if everyone thinks you are.
5.Violence may be the last resort of the gentleman, but a gentleman is never hesitant to engage.
6.Honor comes above all else ' if our courtesy is not repaid, they are undeserving of it, and will be destroyed without prejudice.
7.Never let a fellow Gentleman Raider engage alone.
