Hi all,

It's been quite sometime I have been playing with Wings 3d and came up with this BMM miner concept. It's a heavy miner ship with 3000 cargo hold. What do you guys think? I am still working on this and am serious about submitting it.

Awesome layout man! What are those fin things at the back there though? The ones pointing up in a fan?

And what texture scheme would you use? The civilian one, the Bretonian one or the mining ship one (which is only a bit different to the civ one)?

Nice work!

It looks like it has many inside faces. I suggest you clean those up, it is a serious drawback.
Other than that, the design itself doesn't really match the Bretonian scheme. They tend to be more aerodynamic and usually contain traits resembling fish anatomy. Look at the Templar VHF for example.

As far as I am concerned, the bretonian design is the hardest to replicate in the game. You'd be better off trying your luck at something more generic, given this is one of your first models.

Fixing up/Cleaning a model is much more time consuming than making a new one. And it's better to make a new one where you can avoid making the same mistakes.

this ^

Also, try taking the separated meshes and put / join them with the center mesh. Right now, I'm seeing that you just slapped it model pieces around the center piece which is really weird to look at when the model is textured. If you had the opportunity or anyone - this will be complicated to put the textures aligned.

What I've always thought of is a Mix between the Clydesdale and Percheron. Larger, with one or two Arms on the Side(s) and an opening in the Front. Like a Turtle.

That really looks more like a Rhienland shape than a Bretonian one.
The Bretionan ships all have sort of a shelfish feel to them. Shells, fat bodies, nothing that really looks like a leg or a wing, more like fins. I'd suggest working more with smooth curves on a single body, rather than psuedopods or any such critter looking thing. If you need a place to start, consider the Horseshoe crab or a seahorse

BMM- is actually running a thread right now looking for new ship models to replace the civilian mining shipline. You can submit your fighter designs here;

http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=97548

However, this only applies to snubcraft. BMM isn't really looking for a large solo miner like the Hegeminon.

In regards to the model, the idea is good, the layout is good, and the wings/spikes are a novel acheivement. However, this does not look like a Bretonian ship. Bretonian shipbuilding is one of the hardest styles to master, especially when compining style elements with a ship roughly the size of a Hegeminon.

I would suggest staying with the current model, but removing its planed roll as a BMM miner. Continue to add detail to the model and then texture it, but don't limit it to the role of a BMM miner right away.

Let it burn.

Mining ships of over 1500 cargo will likely no longer be accepted. Heck, even the Hegemon is going to get nudge down to 1200 cargo. Furthermore, this ship does not fit the Bretonian line, as stated before. I'm not sure what it'd fit actually. It looks more like a small station.

The Bretonian line tends to be more about spheres/egg-like rather than box shaped. I could however see this very much as a new refinery station for BMM (With just a few modifications).
