So my dad comes in my room and sees me playing Freelancer on my new Predator gaming system, and he asks "Why don't you play a game that actually uses a part of that beast's potential?"
I respond to him that Freelancer is just such a great game and I'll deal with okay graphics to play such a great game.
Would be great for FL's graphic engine to be updated/modified/altered, so that I can enjoy Freelancer visually to the fullest extent. Especially after seeing all those new ships coming, I just don't feel like the current Freelancer's graphics will be able to showcase all those grand ship designs as well as it would if it had some engine like Freeworlds' or Crossfire's or such.
I mean, I'm a space fanatic. Hell, I would take up astronomy, but math is just not my forte. I remember tearing up a bit when i enabled the ENBSeries effect and flew around Gamma, because it was so beautiful, and I wished it was real and that i was really flying around in a space setting[/nerdgasm]. But then it hit me that i was at my stupid desk in a stupid chair in my stupid Earth setting.

The reason FW:ToW looks so good is because they've updated the game graphics to be compatible with DirectX 9. Once their next release is out (February or March 2012, I think) their devteam also intends to make that particular graphics update available to other mod developers.
