This document contains the fragmented logs of the captain and crew of Renzu|Yomi, a Renzu corporation Research and Development ship lost in the Edge Worlds sometime before the Kusari Reconstruction of 944. The ship was found derilict and orbiting a neutrino star by a zoner captain. During the zoner's investigation of the ship it's unstable orbit collapsed and it began a death spiral into the star. All research and evidence, other than these partial logs, of the ship and crew's fate were lost in the resulting events. Almost twenty years later the logs were returned to Renzu in a cultural exchange between Kusari and Rheinland. How the Rheinlanders aquired the logs is still unknown.
The logs themselves are, for the most part, fairly routine journal entries and interactions between the crew and those they encountered in thier journies. However, there are more than a few log fragments containing startling accounts and technological breakthroughs that have our current Research and Development Personnel excited. The logs have subsequently been copied for research and archiving and the original logs have been locked in hermetic cryocubes in an effort to prevent further deterioration. Unfortunately, the log fragments are not cohesive enough to archive them chronologically. Instead, they have been subfiled according to who we believe wrote the log and/or who presents the most recorded interaction within it.
Because of the oddity inherent in this document's archiving, I will now take a moment to aquaint you with the Yomi's captain and crew. Captain Kei Marwick was a Field Research Analyst first employed by Renzu Corporation somewhere between the years 815 and 820. Little is documented about his education and family history. A side note appended to his filed resume states that he was of mixed birth, having a Kusari mother and Breton father. Several of the technological breakthroughs of the time can be accredited to work that he and his crew did aboard the Yomi. Karl Amsel was a naturalized Kusari citizen originally from Rheinland. He acted as the ship's engineer and Kei's research assistant. It is worth noting that the Yomi's logs may have ended up in Rheinland due to efforts made by Karl's decendents in discovering his fate. Abilene Umeki served as Kei's commstech and systems analyst. Like Kei, she was a Kusari citizen of mixed birth. Her father was an officer in the KNF, the Kusari Millitary's designation of the time, and her mother a naturalized citizen from Liberty.
