I tried its demo years back, but wasn't very impressed.

Mercenary isn't too bad, it's got some complex stuff but it's much easier. Up to you, though.

X is not very beginner-friendly. You will learn by playing it..which is what this game makes special among others sometimes. I was frustrated too at first, but i'm glad i sticked to it and found out how things work for myself.;)

yea combat can be brutal. its fun to add more ships, lets see those pirates kill me in a F-14, they dont stand a chance:D
