I :crazy:thought the whole economy of Sirius was based on sub-organisations inter trading with the major houses.
The Houses need the trade to survive. The whole purpose of the Police and Military authorities was to make sure that legal trading was safe and kept moving, whilst hindering the smugglers and other such desperados.
The NPC representing the law enforcement authority of the major Houses / Faction should take both a more forceful reaction and more appropriate action towards unlawful RP player infringement into territory / Trade-Lanes.
If a Outcast Gunboat :angry:turns up at Fort Bush then whole of the Liberty 7th fleet :Dshould be mobilised into action
I do :rolleyes:appreciate the difficult of setting up reaction zones for NPC and the necessary scripting required making the action of NPC believable. The other answer is to give people joining lawful military organisation freely more appropriate ships and equipment.
Another idea would be to [if possible] to change of Rep status for players joining unlawful organisations, make them instantly undesirable to not only all lawful factions, but also towards any opposing unlawful factions.
But what do I know as new poor trader:mellow:, accosted at Gun point by the same RP authorise who should have been giving me assist, only then to have the same RP player stand back and watch as Im confronted by a group of NPC Pirates, I manage to escape into a Trade-lane only to moments later have trade-lane taking down by RP pirate, who of course required payment of Taxes.
This far from a single and uncommon situation use poor traders find I selves in every day. What should be a seemingly simple trip between Bretonian and Rhineland had me accosted three times by RP Pirates from different organisations, all requiring payment! And then there was the four or was it five confrontations with NPC Pirates, who just wanted to fry my #rse, then when I finally reached Rhineland I was again confronted by RP authorises, for having an attitude I wonder why!
Freelancer a great game, the people behind the Discovery team revitalised Freelancer and made into something new and refreshing.
But please, please do something to re-balance Freelancer.
Sorry I must dash, I see the trade-lane coming back up, and set of Liberty Rogues are heading my way!
Thanks!
PS sorry:rtfm: if the grammar / English are a bit off, but you try type whilst at same time dodging in coming fire!
Finding a new trade route would be a better idea for u than trying to run always when u see someone new at your scaners. Its also some kind of way to discover this beautifull world. And btw keeping pirates out of all liberyty space is not easy for Liberyty goverment couse of low number of lawfull pilots in Liberity space last days.
I have to say that, being a pirate, I find it rather dumb when people complain about being pirated....

I can understand being pirated once, but, multiple times, and still running the same trade route and not hiring an escort or calling [RM] or [QCRF] fighters (I don't know about Rhineland Police, but I know the BPA cannot exit Bretonian borders, so military is your only chance) is a bit dumb....And just because someone pirates you doesn't necessarily mean that they are required to protect you, they fulfilled their part of the deal by not killing you...

Was this the FA? Thats the only faction which really doesn't have a right to pirate all and any traders....Samura and Kishiro are really off limits, and Kishiro is pending, since our NPC's can be seen attacking them on off chances.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
Honestly, the best way to make a Trader's life easier is to reduce the speed and range of a Train Cruise Disruptor. As far as I'm concerned the pirates have it too easy right now. I once had an Eagle chase me all the way from the Leeds hole in Mactan to the California jumpgate. Never once dropped my shield, and I nearly slagged him, but I never got into cruise, which is criminal, imho.

I don't think this post is about being pirated.
If I understand this correctly, it's more about the RP integrity that can be pumped up notch than a rant at pirates and players.
As One.Eyed.Eddie, I enjoy the feel of liberty cruisers and gunboats appearing when I get too close to westpoint. It really feels like i'm the bad guy 'underdog' so unless i have other pirates with me I 'heads fer the hills'. RP wise it's fantastic.
I think it might add an unnecessary load on the server to add more NPCs though... so that could be the reason why we can't have small armies keeping the place 'safe' thus getting escorts is a great investment and a fantastic way to keep the RP interesting.
Sometimes we're more interested in our capital for our Capitals (heh heh) than we are about good RP.. so in my opinion... pirates can keep fine-ing away!
...ha.. With my RepEx train I haggle pirates down and if the RP is good give them a lot more than they asked for!
In the end it is all about how cool we can make our RP player interactions.
i don t think the pirates life is too easy, nor is the traders life. - it appears quite balanced - provided that the pirates make sure that their rep is the way its supposed to be.
when i fly near leeds on clover, i can count to 3 and i ll have like 9 polive cavalier on me, and a minute later, at least one battleship group spawns on me with its ( much tougher ) templars. - of course, when i was not kill-on-sight to the BAF, i d have a quite life there.
about the CDs - well, yes, they are quite funny sometimes. i remember being chased on Clover by two BPAs - and they were, i think 1 - 2k behind me .. we were both on cruise, - and i got shot out of cruise by them. ( its funny.... i dropped CMs - but it seems like dropping one CM is as effective as dropping a dozen. when the first one is ignored by the missile, it appears the second one won t do any good either )
on the other hand, i had traders escaping my train CD easily. - had one yesterday, that was like 700 away and was engaging cruise. the CD was fired, and i am sure it caught up with him - but did not disrupt him.
all in all, i have the feeling as if its well balanced. ( allthough i agree with epyon that - once you re close enough, its impossible for a trader to engage cruise, no matter what he tries ( if the CD hits the CM, it blows up and disrupts the transport, if it ignores the transport, it blows up and disrupts anyway ))
but there is no need to change anything about traders / pirates. when pirates stick to their space, they are quite predictable and avoidable.
