Update download Error

Well i got a problem i cant download the update at all.I will click on the FL.exe then it will load then go right to the main menu it doesn't even ask me if i want to download an update can someone please help me

You're sure that you haven't either already got the update, or that you're launching the wrong Freelancer install?

Ok i got the update from cannon but i dont understand how to install it i do know that it is a zip so i must extract it but where and in which directory?

I thought that .86 has its own installer. IE the updates would automatically install. Unless that is not what you're referring to.
