This thread is for use by all Kusari lawful factions. It is a news channel.

Posts here shall be made in reference to government announcements, as well as reactions and commentary from opposition conservatives. Opposition groups are encouraged to make their own 'shows' with which they can critique the government, as well as put out their own propaganda.

There is no need for 'hacking' this channel. Expect hacks to be removed by the 'government censor' (ie: mods).

Kusari Today!

Konnichiwa and Good Morning Kusari, welcome to Kusari Today! I am your host Kumiko Robosan. We bring to you today an exciting and important News Special.
Kusari Today! has been covering the momentous political changes in our nation's political landscape over the past months. Here is a report on just some of what has taken place since our historic referendum:

New Tokyo at night. Back to its usual vibrancy and grandeur. Yet just a few months ago this was the scene of military action, not seen since the overthrow of the Hideyoshi Dynasty.

After the previous Imperial Government lost the support of the military, the Democratic Party of Kusari was installed as an interim regime. The DPK pledged to hold fresh elections, as well as institute sweeping reforms of the political process. The mandate for reform was upheld in fresh elections, and what followed was a general referendum to abandon the entire notion of an Imperial Kusari.

Change has been embraced by the people, but not without controversy.

Violence still continues in the Conservative heartland of the Kyushu prefecture. Members of the Farmer's Alliance have vowed to maintain action against the new government, until the monarchy is restored. In a recent statement, Prime Minister Takahashi had this to say:

Quote:"Following the collapse of the former administration, the election of the Democratic Party of Kusari to government was by free and fair election. Furthermore the establishment of the Republic of Kusari was achieved by means of a free and fair referendum. The violence that has resulted from this is an affront to common decency. It is nothing more than an attempt to destabilise our Nation, perpetrated by a minority of supporters of the former regime. The focus of the violence has been in the Kyushu system, with the Farmers Alliance notable for their Imperialist propaganda. The Farmers Alliance should respect the will of the people, and not seek to impose their views by threat of force."

Political analysts have been asking recently whether the State Police and Naval Forces will be able to maintain law and order, given the withdrawal from the Tau sector. Some have called for the maintenance of citizen's militia groups such as the Hogosha. However, the State Police issued a statement denying further support for such groups:

Quote:"Let it be known that Kusari does not require misguided patriots, nor private militia forces. A general crackdown on private militia has been instituted by the State Police. That being said, the Kusari Government supports free enterprise and the entrepeneurial spirit of groups such as the Black Dragon Society. Such business-people should feel free to conduct their business, but should not expect reckless behaviour to be condoned, either at home or abroad."

What then of known criminal organisations? Has our government of reform sought to make peace with long-term enemies of the state? Find out after this message...

Kusari Today!

Welcome back to Kusari Today! So what does the new Kusari Republic mean to longstanding terrorist groups like the Blood Dragons and Golden Chrysanthemums?

Hopes for peace talks were raised, when the new Ministry of Defence released this statement:

Quote:"The Government has shown it is able to implement reforms demanded by the people. We are willing to hear the grievances of the Dragons and the GC but these groups must renounce violence, and lay down their arms before talks can proceed. The Government does not negotiate with terrorists."

There has been no official word yet, but Kusari Today! has gained exclusive interviews with representatives from the Dragons and the GC. Stay tuned for more!

The Government amended the Kusari Legal Codex today, formally ending police action against the Gas Miners Guild. A ceremony was held on Planet Honshu to commemorate the first Guild exploration ships to leave Honshu centuries ago. In attendance were representatives from Kishiro Technologies, Guild activist Azuki Tamagochi, recently released from custody on Honshu, as well as Prime Minister Takahasi.

The Foreign Ministry released this statement concerning what has become known as the 'Kurile Crisis':

Quote:"Kusari has known the citizens of the Gas Miners Guild as close neighbours and friends ever since the Guild's ancestors left Honshu. It is a sad indictment of the former regime that this even needs to be acknowledged, as such facts have been taught to our children at the most basic level for centuries. Kusari shall not forget this history, nor that of its neighbour. To reaffirm this, the Kusari Government acknowledges the GMG as a sovereign entity, and respects its jurisdiction. Let it also be known that the Sigma-17 system is recognised by Kusari as an independant Border World System , and that Planet Kurile remains the commercial property of Samura Heavy Industries, by virtue of historical fact."

Samura Heavy Industries could not be reached for comment.

Kusari Today!

Welcome back to Kusari Today! I'm Kumiko Robosan.

Since the Treaty of Freeport 6 was signed between Kusari and Gallia, there has been much anticipation in the business community concerning trade relations.
The Foreign Ministry released a statement today reaffirming their position on Gallia, as well as offering what appears to be an olive branch to the Kingdom of Bretonia, who are under immense pressure from the Gallic invasion forces.

Quote:"The arrogance of the former regime led our nations on a path to conflict. Thankfully we have been able to correct this mistake. The people have expressed their desire for peace between our nations, resulting in a treaty between us. Let it be known that Kusari holds no claims over the Tau sector, and that Tau-29 is recognised as a Border World, as part of our treaty. Kusari presents an opportunity to grant Gallia access to trade with the nations of Sirius in a spirit of peace. We call upon the Kingdom of Gallia to forgive those descendants of the First Settlers who wronged the people of Gallia, and forced them into exile for so long."

Analysts say it is unlikely that the Gallic Royal Navy will heed such calls for peace, with some conservative commentators calling the government's approach a 'cynical exercise in diplomacy'.

Parliament approved changes to the Kusari Legal Codex, placing the Gallic resistance group 'The Council' onto the list of 'undesirable persons', along with the Colonial Remnant - whom were described by a source within the Defence Ministry as 'notoriously unreliable and unstable'. Further to this the Ministry issued a statement that:

Quote:"Kusari shall not harbour groups that may seek to cause trouble between our nation and the Kingdom of Gallia."

And with that, i bid you Sayonara and Farewell, this is Kumiko Robosan, signing off.
